Blaspherian Allegiance to the Will of Damnation is old school metal that does not repeat the past because it has a voice of its own. Using simple riffs in the Morpheus Descends and Asphyx style of creating a simple one-note riff and then varying it with additions of rhythm and phrase, Blaspherian use tribute to the past as a means of making metal that is as current as bands formed yesterday in "new" styles. Their cavernous, doomy, churning death metal batters its way into your mind and then draws you into its dark world.
Blaspherian comes from Houston, Texas, and makes old school death metal with its own voice. Their music does not sound like any known band but is clearly influenced by the old school of booming, primitive, dark, introspective and alienated metal. Formed in 2004, Blaspherian arose from the collaboration of Wes Infernal -- formerly of Infernal Dominion and Imprecation -- and Desekrator, but rapidly branched out to include Matt Mayhem on drums and Apollyon on vocals and bass.
This is fucking grimy! I love it. The perfect antidote to all the sterile hypertech lookwhaticando faggotry that passes as DEATH metal lately. I'd go so far as to put this alongside Teitanblood (more death than black to my ears) and Tribulation. I wish I lived closer to you and Nick, Josh. We'd make such wretched Satanisms.
Blaspherian Allegiance to the Will of Damnation re-released
Blaspherian makes thick, old school sound that bands like Deicide, Morbid Angel and Incantation made popular. This death metal band from Texas features former Imprecation songwriter and current host of "From the Depths" (91.7 FM) radio show. Deathgasm Records has re-released this band's first EP and demos as a full-length album, Allegiance to the Will of Damnation.
