Total lie.

glad they're paying him recognition, he was (like it or not) one of the better guitarists of our time. He's influenced my rhythm playing quite a bit. and (again, like it or not, I know Kyle will agree with me on this) Pantera was probably one of the heaviest bands to grace the audio spectrum. Sure, Nile/Decrepit Birth/etc. are all brutal, but they're not 'heavy' in the same respect as Pantera.

PANTERA always did, and always will, suck ass.

I fully agree. While the way he died is shitty and I agree there should be something to remember him by, I don't think he deserves this. Now he is lumped into like the same catagory as Jimmi Hendrix and if you ask me he is not worthy.

Dime revolutionized guitar playing, you cannot deny his ability, whether you hate Pantera or not. i dont particularly care for Death as much as everyone else yet i can appreciate Chuck Schuldiners ability, though i think he is a bit overrated.

It was not chucks ability... It was his idea's work ethic and sheer determination to create the heaviest meanest band of his time. Chuck helped revolutionize underground death metal in a severe way. I mean shit, the guy came up with "vommit vocals" as he puts it. I am also not sure why death and chuck get dragged into every panterable thread that pops up on this site.

Dime and all of pantera was nothing more than the evolution of cock rock. Dime had a great sense of rythem and about once an album shit out a good riff... the rest were garbage. His solo's are like kerry kings and all gay noises. "Gee lets see how fast I can tap, hit a harmonic, and do a dive bomb... look at meeeee!!!!" get out of town and go fail at being a hairmetal band again.

Hmm...which is dumber? Death being dragged into this or comparing Kerry King solos with Dime's? You've got to be kidding me. There is some structure to Pantera solos. I like KIng and some of his solos but.....no. Dime was a better technical player. Pantera is not my favorite band nor do I believe that they deserved all the recognition they got. But, Dime does earn his share.
Anytime I hear anyone refer to them as Panterrible or any other band with an added insult I can't help but wonder how many dicks they've tasted. Food for thought.

getting your name on a sidewalk in front of a fucking banjo mart in hollywood for people to throw their cigarette butts on, let their dogs shit on, have gum stuck to it, and have yuppie hollywood self-important dorks in business suits walk over is hardly the respect that Dimebag deserves. but that's just my opinion.

Pantera kicks ass. Vulgar Display of Power, Far Beyond Driven, and The Great Southern Trendkill will always be favorite albums of mine.

also, comparing dime's solos to kerry kings is stupid. completely different styles. dime's were musical, king's... not so much.
