i just got a new laptop and installed ie7 but it fucked the laptop all up. i keep getting error messages in the bottom left of the web page saying "done but with errors on page". i'm thinking about un-installing ie7 and going with firefox.

Firefox.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 24,2007 10:46am
I use firefox and ie7 at the same time.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Jan 24,2007 10:47am
Firefox 2.0, Flock, and occasionally Safari on Mac.

IE7's action packed with issues from my experience with it.

I'll use Opera from time to time now as well, especially with it's built-in torrent support.

i use to do that to because some pages would show up differently on both.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 24,2007 10:50am
exactly. if I were on a mac, I would have STDs and never touch safari.

I use that on my Linux box (which isn't set up at the moment, so I only get half credit HAHAHA)

oh sorry, the minus was implied.
you fell into my trap.

toggletoggle post by Messerschmitt at Jan 24,2007 11:08am
fucking sucks. i just get the thing and all i've been doing is trying to fix shit on it for about a week now. windows updates weren't installing right. my antivirus program somehow shit the bed and started fucking with things.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 24,2007 11:18am
wrong... adam so wrong. Anti-virus can do a lot more than just scan for viruses. like intrusion detection, spyware protection, and so much more. there are always ways that you can do thing like send windows data on a certain pen port and get root access, send blue tooth files, receive BT files, cookies, or thing like that. AVs protect you from exploits in your OS. AV is a very good thing... unless you run in a vmware session. then who cares, right?

Whats with the Safari hate? I've encountered a number of people who loathe it and I'm not sure why. I've never had a real problem with it, aside from Gmail not working properly at first, but now it's fine.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 24,2007 11:21am
this site works fine with it? whenever I use it and I click on a link in this site, I get a white screen and have to click in the screen somewhere for it to update.

toggletoggle post by Granny_Monster at Jan 24,2007 11:33am
Yeah, it's been working fine for me. You're on a PC mostly, right Rev? I don't know if Safari is more for Mac's or not, but can be used on both... like itunes. I know a lot of people who have PC's that hate itunes because it's always fucking shit up, but with my Mac is perfectly fine.

toggletoggle post by aeser   at Jan 24,2007 12:29pm
on windows, firefox
on OSX, camino

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 24,2007 12:32pm
safari is a mac only program.
they've been speculating for YEARS about a windows port
hell, just last week:
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/01/13/safari-browser-to-come-to-windows/

when I use safari, it's on a mac.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Jan 24,2007 12:32pm
I use firefox, but I still keep IE just in case some page doesn't show up right on FF.

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jan 24,2007 5:19pm
i can get on the site in safari but i can't view the board.

wow, I thought I was the only person who bothered with Flock. I'm mostly Firefox and Opera. The occasional Flock and the very occasional IE7.

I like the RSS reader functions of flock, that's primarily the reason I use it. but I only use it on my work PC, my home PC is firefox 2 and IE6 (I refuse to upgrade to IE7 until I'm forced, then I'll just change OS's

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 25,2007 10:13am
in IE7 hit ctrl+q

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Jan 25,2007 10:14am
I'd prefer to hit Alt + F4 in IE...

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 25,2007 10:15am
you are strictly F11.

are all of you japanese?

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jan 25,2007 10:21am
Safari is a-ok with me. I've never had one single issue with it. In fact my bank's website has a disclaimer that the online banking pages won't work with Safari........ yeah, they do anyways.

The only issue I have with it is that on a rare occasion it will shut down without warning, and give me an error message. But given the fact that IE is responsible for at least 1 major annoyance in my life every single day (freezing up, not minimizing, not loading videos, errors and error messages every 10 seconds) I think I'll let it slide.

Yup, just me and my mac. Chillin

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Jan 25,2007 10:25am
I still prefer Firefox over Safari on a mac, but that's just me. I like the way FF runs and have since version 0.6x

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jan 25,2007 10:28am
Honestly I've never tried FF. If somebody can sell me on it I'll give it a shot. Till then...

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Jan 25,2007 10:31am
I can sell it on a PC, not on a Mac. if you've got a little while to try it out, then go for it. I'm not saying you'll abandon Safari altogether, but the tabbed browsing is always a seller for a browser.

so, give it a shot and decide for yourself. worst case, you can just delete it and no harm done.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 25,2007 10:34am
xmikex, can I interest you in a slightly used firefox? low mileage, everything must go!

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Jan 25,2007 11:05am
firefox kicks safari's ass. its even better now that it has the rss shit built in...

IE.

If you buy into all this firefox bullshit you're a homo and might as well just use a mac.
