HATEBREED has issued the following statement regarding the passing of its former guitarist Lou "Boulder" Richards:

"As many of you may have heard, and we were sorry to learn, our former guitar player Lou 'Boulder' Richards passed away yesterday. It is very unfortunate that he could not see any other way to conquer his demons. We hope he has finally found some peace. Our hearts go out to Vera and his family and friends."

Richards appeared on the group's "Satisfaction is the Death Of Desire" (1997) and "Perseverance" (2002) albums before leaving the band in May of 2002.

HATEBREED earlier in the year welcomed guitarist Frank "3 Gun" Novinec (TERROR, RINGWORM, INTEGRITY) into the fold on second guitar. Novinec made his recording debut with the group on the band's latest CD, "Supremacy", which came out last month on Roadrunner Records.

This is horrible news. Lou was an amazing artist & an equally amazing person. HOW he died is of little or no consequence & it is sad that there are people who feel it is their business to let the rest of the world know such personal information about their brother. RIP Boulder. We love you & will miss you...

I think he played in CT on their 10th aniversary show.

interesting, i remember this guy from shows but he was kinda a clown. how did he die? i think i know... but of course this stuff should only be released by the label or by a secure source (parents). I remember the death of the drummer of Demolition Hammer. His COD was never released as the parents did not want it known. rumors circulated and there was never an official COD released.
