First song(fast-1/2) sound likes slayer to me, a good start and the second song starts(fast-1/2) out pretty good. So far Slayer to me......we will see, I will be evil on this review, because I've been a die hard fan since the Chemical Warfare EP...... Not to be biased, but Dave still has the slayer drums pulsing the songs thru and I just heard tom rapping, but it is not as bad, because it is short rap sentences.
Ok this album requires some detail info about each song.

1. Flesh Storm- great original slayer song with a great start and good
fast and up tempo shit. upbeat and mix of fast+ and slow

2. Catalyst - The same can be said for this song and not bad at all. mix
of slow and fast

3. Skeleton Christ- Well this did not do much, since it seemed to be the
same as the previous song, but cool good slayer. mix of fast and
slow

4. Eyes of Insane- written by Hanneman If it serves me correct this
song had some new metal riffs and boring shit, but can pass by as
slayers least like song. half slow and fast

5. Jihad- written by Hanneman I personally thing it suck, because it has
a sucky opening riff and then the guitars try to sound arabic or
jihadish....boring, but the end ends off cool with Tom fading out
repeating satan!!! I give this a slayer 1 out of 10,
a two just for that. slow

6. Consfearacy- I remember it being good and slayer in good form and
of course some bad parts, but they pass just the last last couple of
slayer albums after Season. A time I never want to remember or
have forgotten. half fast and slow

7. Catatonic-Listening right now and it has some cool shit and new style
with some mix of new metal or mosh parts....it a ok'er....slower song.

8. Black Serenade written by Hanneman...more creative, but still
slayer.. Some cool lyrics that stand out with old school slayer
lyrics.... a good fast and slow song

9. Cult- So far this song has more new metal riffs and tempo to start off,
then goes off into a fast speed and has a cool king riff during the
chorus you can hear...Only if he could write more during this whole
album..On this song Kerry has to get out of the new metal riffs and
start to write more of the style he created an that is known as slayer.
Yet his solo is a good take back to his origin chaotic solos, which
everyone could not get, but loved...Hanneman did some old slayer
solos which are as great. Slower song.

10. Supremist- Great sounding so far with Dave wailing on the dBase
drums and and a BLAST beat for a little bit, I think this will be my
favorite song so far as for the drums and explosive new slayer
songs. ok, it gets better and better when slow and jumps and rushes
into a fast beast.... oh no .....a break down park....I
cry....................Also the first fret slide reminisent of old slayer.. The
song is almost over and it has Kerry's guitar screaming out, but not
like south of heaven shit and it sound like crap.

Ok so my first listen and I would give this album on a slayer 1-10 a 6 for a come back to the original slayer we all like. Also, it looks like King is mellowing out on his solos, during all solos, except the ones mentioned. They seemed to be thought out and composed and not something you want to go psycho about. Tom is the same and good for slayer as usual, jeff is the same you really never now he's there and sorry to say, but I think with the newer albums from slayer the riffs are not as psychotic, evil, sinister and slicing as old school, which leaves the task to Dave to add is slayer drumming to push most of the songs.. Yes I am a drummer, but anyone would say the same thing, because with Kerry's new metal style and if they had a new metal drummer with normal/half assed beats the song would really suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you enjoyed this and they shall always reign in blood.....

I actually gave the record a 6/10 too, but that's still far too low for Slayer.

I dig the album, I think they obviously tried to tap into their oldschool sound and while they'll never write another Reign in Blood or South of Heaven, I'll take this album over the last two.

I honestly will own any Slayer album, they could do an MTV Unplugged and I'd still dig it

of course it's like anything else in life, it doesn't age like wine

that's the fundamental difference between them and my all-time faves VENOM--the latter have put out much more substandard CRAP than Slayer

Personally I think Kerry and Hanneman could write another close/real Slayer album, if they just would sit down refresh the brain on what made slayer so great. Enought tattoeing, hanging out with slipnot and other shitty bands they played with. Maybe they should take a vacation in Europe to see how brutal the real underground is and maybe learn a couple of things. They just need a kick in the butt. Maybe fans should send them some cd's of band such as morbid angel, hate eternal, emperor....should I go on, so they can reclaim the speed crown, as kerry mentioned before. Right when Divine was about to come out and that was not killer shit. Enough tough talk, so write the attitude in the music. A good album, but not enough to make me screem the lyrics and kill something..... Another Die Hard Fan.

Christ Illusion is good but could have been better.Now lets pray that Slayer actually have some good opening bands next time they tour the states.Im sick of seeing them play with Numetal and Metalcore bands

The production kill this album in my perception,is just too damn clean and neat minded.What ever happen to those frantic solos that give you fucking goose bumps.They promise and blast from the past before this album came out,they just blast themselves on that one,still a descent album but way below to their own standards.Still,it will grow on you like devine or god hates did,well,at least on me...
