seriously, I don't feel like making this whole trip all by my lonesome. somebody pick me up. I'll throw down some gas money. I'm not nearly as crazy as i look.

So the show was last night. and overall i think it was a good show. here's the recap:

first off the flyer said doors open at 4 p.m. they didn't open till 5 and the show didn't get started until 6:30. there was two fuckin birthday parties going on and we had to wait until they were over before we could go in. trust me, everyone wanted to play for the kids, but they wouldn't let them

137: when the hell did these guys play? i saw merch, but no one onstage said they were 137, so i have no idea what's going on there

Reverence: the first band to come on. i thought they were pretty good. NY style death metal. i could definately hear Suffocation/Dehumanized influence in their riffing. the singer had a great fucking voice and sounded brutal as hell. they coulda used a little more stage presence, but overall they did a great job.

Porphyria: Their first appearance in New York, and it could have been better. this was my first time seeing them and they did good, however there were many technical difficulties. for one thing the soundman kept fucking with their volumes throughout the entire set, and there was almost no bass guitar at all. halfway through the set Tom (RustedAngel) realized his ESP was out of tune so he had to switch guitars. the crowd could have been more receptive too. but the band itself did a very good job. excellent stage presence and musicianship. hopefully Dehumanized will get to play some shows with them soon.

Biolich: I saw this band at the Maryland Death Fest and were impressed with them. their drummer is very fucking good. the singer kept walking through the crowd and just shouted into the air, leaving his microphone at his side, which i found humorous. they sounded good

Algol: definately the show stealers of the night. this Symphonic Black Metal band was the only band tonight to really get the crowd moving. they had excellent music, excellent sound, excellent stage presence, and their singer is a phenomenal frontman. i was super impressed with these guys and grabbed their cd. can't wait to listen to it.

Abazagorath: this old school black metal band lives 2 towns away from me, in borderline suburbia. they said this was going to be one of their last shows, i guess their calling it quits. their music was very simplistic, and i got bored. this band wasn't doing it for me. their singer cut himself up all over his body, which i wanted to punch him in the face for.

Dementianon: when are we going to get a hot female guitar player in a metal band that actually moves????????????? i mean come on girls, seriously!!!!!!! these guys seemed more like a heavy rock band than anything else. their bassist had the worst tone i've ever heard, i don't know how he can use it. they finished their set by playing the Beastie Boys' "You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party" wich the crowd loved

Arsis: 3rd time seeing them, but probably their worst sounding set so far. the vocals weren't loud enough and the sound was overall muddy (goddamn soundguys who don't know what their doing). they have also added a second guitarist now

Internal Suffering: i conversed with the drummer and guitarist throughout the night, as they went to the last Dehumanized show and were very supportive of us. the soundguy had a field day with Internal. NO bass, and almost no drums. i swear to god i couldn't hear the fucking cymbals and had to really try hard to hear the snare drum. the guitars were also too low. this is a big shame because they crowd was eating them up and they put on a great show. hopefully next time i see them play there'll be a soundguy who knows how to work the board.

Malignancy: Mortician unfortunately was forced to cancel their performance, as Roger was unable to make it to the show for personal reasons. this means Malignancy headlined. this was actually the best they've sounded. they crowd had died down by this point (it was about 2 in the morning) but you know Malignancy, they don't care, Danny will just rag on whoever is left. after they finished their set they decided to play Zombie Apocolypse in honor of Mortician. only one problem, Mike (Drums) and Lance (bass) don't know the song!!!! Lance learned it in 15 seconds but Mike didn't know how the song went. so he just told Ronni "just tell me when to blast" the next 2 minutes were fucking hilarious, as they kept fucking it up so they just played the beginning riff over and over again.

i wish i coulda went, damn it.

there's always sick shit fest III in albany though!

We had a fun trip down to CT friday night, got to stay with robb and aaron. Went out to breakfast with robb the next morning. Huge thanks to robb for letting us crash on the floor for the night. We set off for the show at noon and arrived at 2:30...the club wasn't open yet. Went and got some food, kalopsia called me and told me he was there so we went back and hung around out back with him. Went into the bowling alley for a while while the b-day partied in the club were going on. The doors were suppose to be at 4, but they didn't open till about 5. 1st band went on at 6:30.

Reverance: Suprised me, they were pretty cool. A bit too many similar slam riffs, but they were good.

Us: So our drummer had to use another kit he's not use to playing, this one was a bit more like his than watchmakers. It was pretty funny when tim said okay lets go, and Dane hit his snare 4 times usually signalling to go into the song, but nope so we stopped after 1 headbang because dane didn't play. hahaha. During the first song there was a low hum of feedback which was obnoxious. Next was frailties, and there's a part right at the beginning of Shawn's solo where we now both do 6 notes together while everyone else stops, and this was where I realized one of my strings was way fucking out of tune! whooops! I tuned the fucking thing right before. WTF? The next issue was dans' bass not even being turned up, he just changed the battery too. The soundguy said he was getting feedback from his bass through the direct box or whatever they used to run him into the PA. I finally switched guitars so we wouldn't continue to sound like ass. Either way it was a good fucking time and worth the trip.

Biolich: pretty good shit.

Algol: I thought these guys were going to be absolutely sick, but they were just okay in my book. The keyboardist stuff I wasn't digging.

137: Yes Kalopsia, they did play but yeah they probably didn't say who they were....You need to lay off the brewskies...The band with the chick guitarist, yes. They were suppose to play the Northern Aggression Fest with us in October but they didn't show up or something. Decent stuff, but not really my style.


Dimentianon: Pretty awesome this time around. I could hear them much better than at the Middle East show with them in October. They have a pretty decent following in their area which is cool to see.

Abazagorath: I didn't like these guys at all. I didn't like the attitude really. Like at the end "fuck you goodnight" type of shit is annoying. They played for what seemed like an hour and a half.

Arsis: All the fucking way from Virginia...Tore shit up, but the PA sound wasn't tight enough to capture their sound well. Jim's solo's were pretty rediculous. The only thing is I wish their bassist would have gotten into the music more. I didn't see him move much at all while Jim and the other guitarist were. I didn't get to say bye to them as they left right after their set. Sorry guys.

Internal Suffering: Just as rediculous as when they played Terence's worcester show on the brutal domination tour! Played a new song. Got to play one extra song after their last song.

Malignancy: WOW! Have these guys fucking tighten'd up since I saw them in 2003. New drummer perhaps? Either way, that guy was a pretty sick player. The sound was the best of the night. They actually had good stage volume due to the guitarist having 2 cabs on each side. Can't wait to see/play with these dudes again. God damn. Since Mortician couldn't play which is unfortunate, they attempted a cover of Zombie Apocalypse and I took a video clip of the entire thing. hahah.

Thanks to mike(kalopsia) for driving up from NJ, and Luis and his friend for coming in from manhattan! see you guys next time. Once again thanks to Tom for setting this shit up. We are possibly coming back to NY for 2 dates with Dying Fetus in January. Can't fucking wait!
