I think it's the best when the most established comics/actors flop and burn. You can totally see when the writers see this and re-adjust. Maybe hardwick does this himself, but you see these people down by 2K points and not hitting their buzzers and then all of a sudden they catch up really fast.
I also find it funny listening to the WTF podcast and comedians in cars getting coffee. It seems like hardwick/maron have a similar thing going on here. Jerry has a more higher caliber of guest, but it's all the same pool. I like all of them though.
Apparently the actual show itself is usually 45-60 minutes.
So they always adjust it down quite a bit and edit a shit out. Sometimes the edits are painful though, that's been at least once where it cut out in the middle of a comic's joke.
As for fudging point numbers, I wouldn't be surprised.
