New site? Maybe some day.

First real experience with this album was back around 2001, went to the record store with girlfriend at the time, she saw it and wanted it so I bought it for her. Went home and banged her out while the album played and repeated, couldnt tell you any of the track names, but was a good memory, same goes for the Concrete Blonde Bloodletting album. |
haha, my angsty ninth grade sad bastard album of choice. doesn't actually hold up to the test of time as much as you'd want it to. |
Good album that is outclassed by Disintegration. |

yeah, disintegration definitely holds up better. |
I like Disintegration a lot as well. That album marked the period in which they were also gaining more attention and shifting to the more popular sound.
what do the new albums sound like? I haven't heard them. |
I also enjoy Wish more than Pornography. Open is a hell of a way to start off an album. |
yeah, its a little more commercial. but i think the songwriting was better too. its a popular album for good reason. pornography is good, but some of the songs are kinda clunky. and a couple just sound corny as hell when you give it a later-life listen.
no idea what new cure sounds like, but last time i saw a picture of robert smith he looked like rosie o'donnell. gonna guess not good. |
If I'm in the mood for something that sounds like The Cure in their prime, I'll just listen to This Empty Flow. |
oooooooooofff |

Ha ha, I must be the overnighter in this thread, I was just referring to this album, have heard the cure since highschool era 89/91, during that time only the goth/alternative kids were listening to them from what I saw. Just didnt really listen to them or give them a chance, thought they were too faggy back then, since then my opinion has changed. At least I was banging a broad about it.
overnighter and out |
I would make an argument that Carpathian Forest is usually an overnighter black metal band, too. Didn't even know they covered the cure. |
pfft, was listening to wimpy goth music back when carpathian forest was called...

...enthrone.

Only Christian Death is real. |

Hated them since the 80s. Though I had a guitar teacher that insisted on teaching me Killing an Arab, that wasn't a terrible song. |
Now, comparisons to Christian Death aren't fair. The Rozz Williams era albums were pretty much the best band, artist, singer, songwriter, soloist, composer, orchestra, genre, or jazz ensemble in the history of time.
That being said, '100 Years' and 'The Hanging Garden' stand right up there with the entirety of Disintegration and arguably Bloodflowers as The Cure's best work. They're still great, Robert Smith is pretty much the "goth" version of Lemmy in a lot of ways. |
Me from earlier today "how do I have 229 cure tracks" |
Japanese Flowers or Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me or GTFO
