I'm trying to keep track of the beers that I'm trying. Mostly stouts. Mostly hippie shit with fruits and stuff. I'm going to post pictures and reviews of each. I will probably edit out porno images. Sorry.

Gigity.

There is a hard pear cider made by fox something that was really fruity. You might like it.

Love their oatmeal stout, but I don't think it's gay enough for Aaron's thread.

I've been buying random barley wines, limbics, ales, and framboise for years.. I wanted to make a thread/album so I don't try more than once

Kate the Great by Portsmouth Brewery is a world class stout. Not sure if they're going to make it this year, though, since the head brewer left and he had the rights to the recipe.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 14,2013 9:05am
Hm... I do love Portsmouth.

That barley wine was damn good, but I should have drank water yesterday. I have a headache this morning.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Jan 14,2013 9:37am
Good luck getting some Kate the Great. If you ever see it, get me a bottle. I'll buy it at a high price, stranger.

I have a bottle from 2009 or 2010 that I've been aging in a small wine fridge in hopes of getting a 2013 bottle, so I can compare the two. Unfortunately, since the old head brewer left with rights to the recipe, I'm not sure if they'll be having Kate the Great Day this year. If they don't have it then I may cave and just crack open the bottle in late March or something.

iStout 10%
roasted, dark chocolatey and much more bitter than guiness. leaning towards an IPA.

maybe true 10 years ago, but they're not marketed for bitches the are into wine coolers anymore. a lot of them will sit you on your ass, and taste good doing it. Dogfish head comes to mind.

the general rule is that if you can buy a fruit beer in a 12 pack it will be the worst.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 23,2013 10:31am
I got a couple dogfish. A 20oz 10% gives me a decent buzz and sipping is good for a night.

Creme brulee stout southernteirbrewing.com

I want more of this. I had the dark chocolat stout from them last night. amazing.

toggletoggle post by chrisREX  at Jan 23,2013 10:54am
I've had a good beer made with pear, but I don't remember what it was.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Jan 23,2013 11:30am
That creme brulee is really tasty, Southern Tier nails it 80% of the time.

toggletoggle post by Spydre  at Jan 23,2013 11:50am
I'm hit or miss with Southern Tier. The Creme Brulee Stout sounds kind of interesting, but things like their Choklat Stout are just way too chocolatey for me. I know it's pretty highly praised, but I just can't get into it for some reason.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 23,2013 12:23pm
if you think that the xocolat is too chocolatey, then your opinion of the creme brulee is probably going to be the same. I drank the chokolat in the shower and when I spat, my phlegm was chocolatey.

sweet and light.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 10:27pm

love stouts and it's new. it was a little bitter, but still good.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 10:27pm

I bought a second one of these. very good. it's hot.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 10:28pm

not bad. This is what all normal "beers" would be better served tasting like.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 10:28pm

I didn't care for this. too normal beer tasting and it was almost a chore to drink.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 10:29pm

I could drink this, but probably won't again. it was light tasting.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 10:29pm

it was ok. needs more of a ginger taste.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 10:30pm

stuff is awesome. it's like $12 for a little bottle. wicked good.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 10:30pm

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 11:07pm

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 11:07pm

bitter from the coffee, but good.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 2,2013 11:08pm

it tasted exactly like the garbage that was behind me.
