Actually, I do remember hearing the newer album being decent. I just don't get a stiffy for newer black metal albums like I used to, classic band or not
I care because I only listen to classics and dont care about black metal anymore. Not much desire to hear new black metal bands or albums.
that's cool, whatever floats your boat. but if you ever decide to ease up on your hardline you could definitely do worse than that album if your looking for some new music.
i'm sure in five years it'll be considered old school anyways.

I mean dont get me wrong; if anything ill take your word for it and its piqued my interest now; I'm just saying going out and buying a new gorgoroth album is not on my priority list anymore. I guess my metal tastes have shifted since I was all about black metal.
I for one will love seeing the new REAL Gorgoroth without KING faggot hell and Ghaal. Infernus is gorgoroth and Pest is awesome. Obtained Enslaved are extremely mediocre btw. First 2 Gorgoroth albums>anything in this thread.
Pentagram is the only real Gorgoroth album I got into.
I guess it wouldnt be fair to compare OE to Gorgoroth other than Pest. Completely different styles. But I generally prefer melodic bm riffage over traditional bm riffage because I'm a queah now. depends on the band I guess.
Then again I fucking love Ildjarn's Strength and Anger so I guess that doesnt make sense.
Drumming production on a lot of gorgoroth records are terrible as i remember but i can get down with pentagram/antichrist sometimes and that teack incipit satan but fuckin a the drumming as well as the production is fucking bad
i love this shit and all the later shit that king of faggot hell and ghaal wrote most of (if i am informed correctly). Its weird but extremely evil sounding for lack of a better word. obv the early stuff that was all infernus was awesome in its own right and while it sounds a bit un original nowadays, thats mostly because they helped set that paradigm that EVERYONE else ripped off.
either way, not the greatest band ever, but still pretty good, especially compared with other second-wave BM bands like judas iscariot and dark funeral.
anything with Gaahl sucks donkey baahls. the new album is awesome despite the drums being way too loud. i would love to see Gorgoroth, i think my head might explode when they play "Possessed". the live in Krakow dvd SUCKS, it could have been such a killer show.
Everything up to Destroyer was awesome. Twilight of the Idols was ok but overrated by people who like their BM way too clean. Quite honestly I think they got a bad reputation by putting out a handful of over produced records and Gaahl taking over as the mouthpiece of the band. I think they wouldn't have become a laughing stock if it wasn't for:
the early stuff is still solid gold and gets the snub from nu-jacks who only know them as Gaahl and the Sunshine Band, or older dudes who don't want to admit how much Antichrist ruled. The Darkthrone cover on Destroyer killed it. ftw.
