I run an internet forum. We get trolled all the time. We ban them and report their username, email and IP address along with any other details to a global anti-trolling network. This renders them unable to register using the same details on tens of thousands of websites worldwide. We now maybe get one troll ever month, compared to numerous ones each week, prior to signing up to the network. I even get abusive emails now, demanding I let them sign up to my site. I just delete the emails, but at least their rants never get to be seen publicly on my site

Started trolling BBS's in junior high. Getting threatened by adults who could have easily found out my phone number and home address was cool and all, but AOL chat rooms were a much more interesting troll experience.
oh and
In the UK, one of the most infamous RIP trolls, Sean Duffy, was sentenced several months later for persecuting on Facebook four families of dead children. On one girl's memorial page he wrote: "Help me mummy, It's hot in Hell."

I dont remember if it was yahoo specifically. I could also be recalling the wrong year, maybe 95 or 96. I was in 8th grade. |
