1.) if it was a plane, why the contrail going upwards towards the sky?

If it is a jet contrail why has no flight number been given?

I am skeptical myself that this is a missile but you'd think the FAA would come forward and make an official statement to calm all the crazies that think China tried to nuke us.

Like I said, if it were a plane, and because of the attention it was getting, NORAD would have scrambled jets. If this was a plane, we would have been able to track it throughout the course of its flight.
I'm saying it's a missile or a plane; there's simply not enough real evidence either way.

They have a Naval weapons station, that houses among other things - tactical nukes, right next to Camp Pendleton. I was out doing an arming/de-arming on some AH1W's one night with my shop and we saw them launch something very similar looking. It was actually really pretty to watch. The next day we heard it was a test of an ICBM, and apparently it was a "failure". This was probably back in 2002.
