i understand where you're coming from dude. i don't even consider finntroll metal, when i feel like listening to METAL i definitely don't think of this band. i just think it rocks.

so name some bands that sound just like Finntroll. because if they don't, then i'm just going to listen to Finntroll because i love it.

no. i just love the way they sound, so i listen to them. if a band can appeal to me in the same way, i will listen to them. otherwise, i will just listen to Finntroll.

one of the main sources for the jig metal today. Henceforth, aril no likey. in fact, I haven't listened to any of their album released in the past 6-7 years because I despise this band.
before someone says "OMG HOW can you hate then if you don't listen to them!!" I'll say I hated their sound years ago and I don't like what they represent.

insert random spinefarm band circa 2003-2010

i know nothing about them, nor do i care to learn. i just love the sound. they are the only "jig" metal band i pay any attention to. so then where does Moonsorrow fit? because if you hate them we can no longer snuggle.

to be quite honest I think moonsorrow has been sucking since their 2005 release. I like their early works and they were one of the reasons I drove to MN a few years ago to see their full set.
But yea, moonsorrow ist getting boring now.

i have a boner for every second of moonsorrow's material except the awful for whom the bell tolls cover.

yeah the last one i don't care for at all. but everything before is untouchable.

I really don't like that modern spinefarm esque sound.
Turisas, CoB, Kalmah, (new) Ensiferum, Norther, etc. I even think Wintersun is over hyped and overrated. Jari is talented, as are all those Finnish bands, but that sound is getting stale IMHO.

ugh. turisas is a guilty pleasure of mine and i like wintersun mainly because the drummer is superhuman...but fuck spinefarm bands. i can't stomach that stuff anymore.

everybody in those bands are super human musicians.
but that doesn't mean the music is always good. I mean I liked wintersun, but jari's style is a little too flashy and over the top. that's why I liked ensiferums s/t over iron. He wrote more material on iron.

it's superior finn genetics coupled with their tap water which is truly the nectar of the gods. for every lame metal band finland has, there's Engram.

i just don't pay attention to anything after 99. sometimes a band will catch my interest, but usually i don't give a shit. i'm content in the 90's.
