New site? Maybe some day.
I hope there is a show in the area.
During a recent chat with NME TV, DOWN drummer Jimmy Bower revealed that the band will tour select U.S. markets with the MELVINS in August/September. The group will then return to the studio from October through December to record what will eventually become the fourth DOWN album, tentatively due in early 2010.

the Melvins were unbelievable when I saw them in May...I hope this comes here |
I don't get either of these bands. |
Ill hit the ma show..ct if it happens |
i know very little about the melvins other being supposedly very influencial. Down i would love to see again though. |
the most recent down album was crap |
They should have kept to a once every 7 years thing still.. But now there a full time band |
No way. Down can do no wrong. You didn't like it cuz they're throwing rock into it. |

i dunno if it was crap... but it definitely wasnt as good as the first 2. |
I thought 3 was better then 2. |

wrong. i like rock and they've incorporated rock into all 3 albums, so throwing rock into it would be nothing new for them. aside from a few songs, the third album is boring and has uninspired songwriting. that's why i don't like it. i love the first 2. |
i checked the house of blues boston page and this is coming to boston |

Right after Twisted Sister in Plymouth haha! |
And two days after Stryper! |
Also MassConcerts does have a CT date listed for those who were wondering before. |
Nola was a monster of an album. Visceral, honest, and the riffs... oh my, the riffs. That album paints an accurate portrait of New Orleans and the Louisiana backwoods. Such a maelstrom of clashing emotions. Depressive, violent, narcotic, and vengeful. People will bash it because Phil is on the album, but his vocal performance was unquestionably powerful.
Oh, and early Melvins rule. |
mike wanna go to this?
i dooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Nola was amazing Down 2 was amazing... Funny fact here, is down 2 was recorded in 15 days in the swamp lands of louisiana, came out fucken amazing... Down 3 took about a year if not longer and came out like franklly shit... I remember seeing them when down 2 came out... and i seen them at the old lupos on westminister... What a fucken night, it was called "an evening with down". They had about an hour and a half movie of old school thrash and metal as the opener... Then they came on.. and played almost eveything from both albums.. Set ran about 2 and a half hours.. Now that right there was the fucken ripe time of down... |
anyone have a link to the original demo tape? i heard it rules... would like to hear it |
I don't listen to the newer ones much but Down are amazing live, every fucking time. Can't wait. Be cool to see The Melvins, too. |
way to not post the demo i asked for, pam. ugh. |
I'd go if I could guarantee that I wouldn't have to see Down. |
I'd go if I could guarantee that I wouldn't have to see Down. |
if it's just the 2 bands, then wouldn't that be pretty easy? lol |
i checked the house of blues boston page and this is coming to boston |
Right after Twisted Sister in Plymouth haha! |
Hell yea |
mike wanna go to this?
i dooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Yes ma'am. This night should also involve us getting away from the troubles of life (i.e. lots of whiskey and weed). |
this is awesome, i have yet to see Down. The Melvins will accent their sound really well. |
Weedeater is opening. awesome. |
there might be a promo code for it though... |
yep dude, there's a promo code that you need... |
or just go to Subway for a $5 footlong and you get the ticket for $5. Same thing basically haha! (Think I might do that today!) |
I already posted the demo above |
Oh, I was beaten to it. n/m |
I was even beaten to saying I was beaten to it. FAIL. |
FUCK I just realized I have to work a wedding on the 13th. Hating life right now. |
go to the hartford or nyc show |
I will be at the hartford show. Going to either boston or nyc also. |
anyone going sunday or tues? |
can anyone give me a ride to this? it's my bday on sunday and I really shouldn't be driving. |
cant afford it , fml, stay in school childrens. |
I actually emailed the bride for Sunday and asked her if she thought I'd be able to make this show after I leave her reception. |

I'll probably be there... |
cah bah khed |
I'll see you all tonight! |
anyone need a ticket for this? i have an extra |
I'm hoping it doesn't sell out because I don't want to pay the gay online ser charge! |
I am now considering going to this. |
I hear Phil might say "goddamn". |
If people want to see Evil Army, my recommendation is to get there at 7 or earlier. I have a feeling the HOB is going to pull another "Start show before actual show time" thing again... |
I hear Phil might say "goddamn". |
He might say more than that |
who is going but hasn't left yet? |
meeting at work prevented me from going to see weedeater. |
another great Down show. holy shit is all i gotta say. there was a cool jam at the end of Bury Me in Smoke which involved each band member switching their instruments over to their guitar techs without skipping a beat. ... oh and why the fuck havent i been listening to the Melvins all this time? |
cool show but i thought down was too quiet, at least from where i was standing and the melvin awesome.
WEEDEATER - AMAZING. |
cool show but i thought down was too quiet.. |
agreed...but i've thought that about every HOB i've seen so far. i think i just have hearing damage. |
naw cause i was standing in the same spot i did for motorhead and i thought they sounded fucking huge.
the gtrs were way pushed back, phil's vox way out front and the bass/kickdrum were overloading.
not a solid sound, but still fun seeing down. |
I wasn't feeling Down on this one. Might've been me being tired, but I wasn't impressed. I was expecting much more from them.
The Melvins however were incredible and I'm kicking myself for not seeing them earlier! |
ya i was half asleep from a longass weekend so i was up in the balcony. good show but def nowhere near the caliber perfomance of the palladium show a couple years back. also did not appreciate the anti-worcester rhetoric from phil. |
Phil kinda bugged me. Swearing doesn't bother me, but when it's every other word and used to sound like a tough guy, it gets old very fast. |

you clearly have never seen any of his bands live. |

I have not... |
this is normal behavior dood. |
ya at least his swearing is somewhat coherent now. i should show you a bootleg of a 98 pantera show in holland. a masterpiece of rambling unrecognizable bad language and ranting |
my SJR impersonation:
"You when you fuckin... you know when you fuckin fucking.. you know fuckin fucking fuck?" |
yeah, he used to rant incoherantly for hours in between everysong...
it was kinda funny.
how have you never seen Pantera live? |
crowd was lame. down was good. |
my SJR impersonation:
"You when you fuckin... you know when you fuckin fucking.. you know fuckin fucking fuck?" |
haha i saw SJR in New Jersey and he challenged at least 10 crowd members to fist fights and forgot the majority of his song lyrics and other bands on the show. that was def phil at his lowest point. |

I'm kinda a metal newb, got into metal about 5 years ago and by that time Pantera was long gone. |
any recommendations for a first Melvins cd? |
