I had all my photos in 3 locations
1) 1.5TB internal seagate connected external
2) 3x1.5TB seagates in a RAID 5
3) 2x1.5TB seagate/1x750GB seagate in my Drobo

I made sure that all the pictures were the same.
I wiped out #3 and started copying from #1 to #3.

so then one of the drives in #2 dies... just after all photos are verifies the same on #1 and #3, I move the box for #2. I pull the power chord and #1 falls while being accessed onto the ground about a foot, but is ok.

I also had a 750GB Western Digital die a couple days ago. Now, I have to send in a 1.5TB seagate and 750GB WD... but since I have no spare drives, I need to get another drive to rebuild my RAID. I'm saying fuck seagates right now and I have to order WDs... which means getting the 2TB ones. they are so pricey! arg!

I always buy drives in pairs so if the controller cards go bad, I can swap them. 2TB drives are $229 each! Just what I needed right now, another expense.

are you sure those 2TBs are stable?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 30,2009 11:33pm

they were $220 after cashback... but no way to pay for them with paypal so I will just forget that I ordered them.
