I think his supposition is that it will ally with Canada in order to break away, preventing military action by other parts.

that map seems wrong to me. it assumes states would remain intact. i would imagine a large portion of southern california, not to mention arizona, would be allied with mexico, considering all the mexicans already there. i don't think these alliances would divide cleanly along state borders.

Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Oklahoma defect to Mexico... makes sense considering how much the back woods racist populations of each of those states love Mexicans.

Oregon, Utah, Idaho defect to China... makes perfect sense. 3 states with minuscule populations of Chinese people would probably jump at the chance to defect to a country notorious for their violations of human rights and a failing economy.
