i know nothing about Throbbing Gristle, but i'm interested. i know they played a big influence role for Godflesh.

I haven't heard that before but I suppose its possible since Hip-Hop and Dub were taken largely from Kraftwerk

well the first bands to remix music were the germans, so yeah Kraftwerk, Neu!, Faust were huge influences on hip hop. I always thought dub was more of a mistake in the studio during the mixing/matering, that lead to new ideas. Never really heard any kraftwerk in early dub though. not enough bass in kraftwerk

You should also check out Total/Pure/Skullflower (all mathew bowers projects) which is as far as I know the biggest influence on Justin of Godflesh.

HALF-FACT

Chris Carter was not COMPLETELY influenced by Abba but SIGNIFICANTLY influenced....especially on his solo songs/material. Kind of weird considering who Throbbing Gristle are, what they stand for, and how they sound. But Carter was a huge Abba fan, and it did influence his work in TG.

TG was always billed as anti-abba-style. that was the point at the beginning. at least from genesis's pov. carter and that other girl were always more dance oriented

Right, Aaron...

Chris and Cosey are badass, definitely more dance-y, but not in the club way.

Someone should post some of Cosey Fanni Tutti's amazing porn.

if you dig TG's stuff, I think alan vega (ex-suicide) did a very good mondern version of TG in a project called VVV. jarring electronics with vega's weird vocals. damn, now I want to listen to vvv.
