Mexican bus crashes down ravine, 63 dead
April 17, 2006
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A tour bus veered off a mountain road, crashed through the metal barrier and plummeted hundreds of feet down a ravine in eastern Mexico on Monday, killing 63 people, police said.
At least 10 children were among the dead.
"It broke the barrier and went down a ravine," civil protection official Ranulfo Marquez said.
He said the dead were all Mexicans on a chartered bus traveling to Veracruz.
The crash happened near the Pico de Orizaba, a dormant volcano and Mexico's tallest mountain at over 18,300 feet .

Maybe it's good idea to stay off chartered buses on mountains in Spanish speaking countries, because this just happened in Chile a few weeks ago. |

honestly i was laughing just typing the words "triplets" and "wood chipper" into the search engine |

The call came in just before midnight Tuesday from a Spanish speaker on a cellular phone with lots of yelling and background noise.
Jesus, mexicans can't even shut up when someone is trying to call the police to save their lives. |
