As far as I know it's mostly private servers and hosting for everything from internal business stuff all the way up to all that stuff you mentioned according to a show I watched on it. Lots of ARG's ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternate_reality_game ) are hosted there. I downloaded Tor once when I got all freaked about internet privacy and security but got disinterested once I found out how slow it was when you could just use Epic Privacy Browser and run a VPN and all that direct in the browser. And on top of that, a lot of nodes on Tor appear to be/have been hosted by malicious entities.
Not sure if it qualifies as 'dark web' necessarily, but Lake City Quiet Pills always interested me.
