Wow... This club is actually really nice. Nice stage, sound, lights, etc... It's pretty crazy.

The first band was just like they said, hate speech from VT. Looks like the second band is going to be the same.

Is there a fried dough stand at this festival?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 18,2016 9:00pm
Omg I wish. The first band was actually called hate speech.

Hraesvelgr was pretty cool if you stood by the PA. Which seems to only be on stage left.

Impenitent their was really good too.

Right now the night profound is playing and they rule. Dual acoustic guitars with a sampler and a kick played by one of the guitar players.

I'm not taking many pictures cause my camera was at 57%... Then 35%. Then 34%.. Now 27%. I'm debating running home.

Fire + ice ruled. I love current 93 so this was just great.

Blood axis on now.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 19,2016 12:53am
Cold northern vengeance isn't getting the best sound from the sound guy. Even so, it sounds really good in the stage left pa stack at least.

toggletoggle post by NeverStopTheMadness  at Aug 19,2016 1:03am
Sound issues aside, show was legendary!
Night Profound, Fire + Ice, Blood Axis was just an unbelievable trio. Venue was cool too.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 19,2016 2:51am
I wish they figured out what was wrong with the feed back, low monitors, and the stage right PA, but that's just me nit-picking. When I was on stage left, it sounded great.

Good times, great to catch up with Aaron, it's been years. Way too late for my old ass on a school night!

My thorough inspection on 2:10 am arrival home yielded no evidence of poop, piss, or puke. Dogs were troopers and held it.

I wonder how welcome I'd be at this show

toggletoggle post by NeverStopTheMadness  at Aug 19,2016 11:03am
My guess is the feedback issue was a stray monitor behind everyone (unused drum monitor maybe?).

Only with the right patch would you be allowed entry

Show ruled... All bands were great!

First band(s) - This was the stupidest noise set I've ever seen. That's based on overall weakness of sound and the YouTube-ed stage antics. The previous title holder was a guy in jorts yelling into a paper microphone in a basement in Rhode Island. There's a new sheriff in town. Left after a few to eat pizza.

Seabrook Papa Gino's - The Master Race in their natural habitat.

Hraevrgrrstrhfhhhl - No chance at pronouncing the name, but they were good.

Impenitent Thief as Witch Tomb - Shred city even as a 2 man operation.

Night Profound - Saw the outfits and thought I was in for a sick magic show. Turned out to be a pretty nice neo-folk duo. I judge most unfamiliar neo-folk on a pass/fail basis of if they make me think of Diablo II or not. This was a pass.

Fire + Ice - I was way more familiar with Ian Read in Sol Invictus than Fire + Ice but wow. His voice is incredible. I hope the Applebee's chuds by the bar that needed to talk over the whole set never figure out what an awesome and unique performance they missed. They'd be pretty sad.

Blood Axis - When you have a dynamic band like BA I'm always really apprehensive on how it adapts to a live set. This is everything I wanted from a Blood Axis set and more. One of the coolest live performances I've seen in a long time.

CNV/Northern - You know the stories, but if you're talking about the music this is well done creative black metal and there's no getting around it. Great set.

The venue - I could complain about the feedback problems from a fixed PA system. Or the fact that I don't remember there being a no re-entry policy but the door guy freaked when I walked 20 feet to the car to get a hoodie (cold northern air conditioning indeed). But honestly, they held a show that other venues would have ran from or waited until the last second to cancel so they could grandstand (rest in fucking piss TT the Bears). So thank you everyone involved in putting this on.

And America was great again!

lol. I self identify as a longer than normal show attendee. Not a fest-face.

CNV has always been overrated, there I said it.

I'm not sure if I should change their name to Northern or not... I don't really think they are overrated. We have a local band that plays some really good music, is on Moribund Records, and doesn't tour ever. Facts that seem overlooked.

casual sol invictus fan here. had no knowledge of this Fire + Ice deal. only listened to a couple tracks thus far, but yeah. this rules.

oh one more thing. was creeping around the sol invictus wiki to see what year it was that Ian left the group. discovered this and lol'd.

Nah fuck that, musically they give you the impression they start off good, but never follow through musically with their ideas, just becomes a clusterfuck of musical masturbation.

toggletoggle post by Zoinks at Aug 23,2016 1:36am
Totally disagree . Songs are well written , thought out and memorable.

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Aug 23,2016 8:27am
Yeah, Northern is awesome. And I'm not even a black metal fanboy. Good music is good.

Given the premium ticket price, I really couldn't justify taking my little ones to this event. There are so many free museums out there nowadays, have you considered trying a donation-based model?
