New Cronenberg flick starring the dude from Twilight who just got cheated on, or something.

Will see.

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Aug 30,2012 11:19am
Doesn't look particularly good, but I will definitely see because it's Cronenberg. Eastern Promises was excellent.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Aug 30,2012 11:20am
Eastern Promises > A History of Violence

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Aug 30,2012 11:23am
Agreed, but I still thought A History of Violence was pretty great. Spider was decent, definitely not one of Cronenbergs best. This thread made me bust out The Brood.

Ross, any interest in checking this out this weekend?

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Aug 30,2012 11:25am
Naked Lunch and eXistenZ are my two favorite Cronenberg films, though I also love Dead Ringers and Crash. One of the genius writers/directors, imo.

Oh does it come out that soon? Yea totally, what about tomorrow? My phones off right now, but you have Amelia's number right?

I'm down, and yes I do. Apparently it hit theaters on the 19th of this month. I know it's playing in Boston. We can try to figure out what other theaters might be showing it, and where we'd prefer to go.

This. Easilly in my top 3. Crash is like my second favorite film.

I've only seen Crash and Eastern Promises....I'm gonna download some of his other flicks right now.

You've never seen Scanners, the Fly, Rabid, The Brood, the Dead Zone, or Videodrome? You need to get on that shizzle right now, guy is a genius.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Aug 30,2012 12:59pm
Yeah, for real. Videodrome is a must.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 30,2012 1:17pm
Videodrome left a mark on my mind. Eastern Promises and A History of Violence were awesome.

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Aug 30,2012 1:30pm
Long live the new flesh!

toggletoggle post by Mark_R at Aug 30,2012 1:31pm
Definitely make sure you get Videodrome in before the remake comes out. I was also a big fan of Existenz.

Did anyone see a dangerous method? Really different from his other work but I think it was amazing.

How is there no mention of Naked Lunch? Some fans you all are.

turns out I was thinking of that other movie Crash...

I'm gonna look into the Cronenberg Crash..and never seen Dead Ringers.

There really dosen't seem to be a lot of grey area when it comes to Crash. People either seem to love it or hate it with every ounce of their being. I'm in the former. You'll never look at a scar on someones leg the same way again.

Dead Ringers is essential stuff. Amazing performance(s) from Jeremy Irons.

This is a Cronenberg related thread. He is more important than you. Either stay on topic or do kindly GTFO.

On the subject of Cosmopilis, I really hope my local cinema actually gets it. They only showed A Dangerous Method for like a week and by the time I actually found out it was too late.

toggletoggle post by Will Spanner at Aug 31,2012 6:20pm
Another thing, I know I fucked up the spelling in the above post, but theres been no mention of Shivers or Rabid in this thread. Both awesome flicks.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Aug 31,2012 6:29pm
Mr. R. Trioxin did happen to mention Rabid earlier in the thread.

Spider was decent, definitely not one of Cronenbergs best.

I love Spider, brilliant headfuck. That movie looks like depression feels. Amazing performace from Ralph Fiennes.

One of the best things about Cronenberg is how he can blow you mind not just with radical visuals but with IDEAS as well.

You should all read my write up of eXistenZ: http://hellbrokeluce.blogspot.com/2012/08/existenz-1999.html

I've wanted to re-watch it for a while now, because I keep hearing people say things like this, but something happened to my VHS and it won't play after about 10 minutes in :c I guess I should just netflix it.

I can't help it, I like 80's Cronenberg best.
