Iron Maiden announce "Maiden England World Tour" with extensive dates in North America this summer

Very Special Guest Alice Cooper to July 21, Coheed and Cambria after July 21.

Following the massively successful Final Frontier World Tour 2010-11, IRON MAIDEN are back on the road this summer with a series of Arena, Amphitheatre and Festival shows in the U.S.A. and Canada, opening in Charlotte, NC, U.S.A. on June 21, and finishing in Houston, TX, on Aug 18 (dates listed below), to be followed by further dates around the World in 2013. The MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour”. This opening section of the World Tour is the band’s most extensive visit to North America for many years and includes a number of cities the band have not played in a very long time, such as Charlotte, Atlanta, Buffalo, Indianapolis and Salt Lake City.

In most venues, tickets will go on sale on March 2 and 3 but watch this site or check local venue information for fuller details. Fan Club members should check out ironmaiden.com for exclusive first day ticket presales and contest to be ‘First To The Barrier’.

MAIDEN ENGLAND marks the third chapter in the History of Iron Maiden, a journey which began in 2004 with The Early Days DVD and subsequent 2005 Early Days Tour. Part Two followed in 2008 with the Live After Death DVD - the seminal 1984 concert recorded at Long Beach Arena (L.A) during the World Slavery Tour - and the band embarking on their groundbreaking Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008/9, which saw them play to over two million fans in almost 40 countries.

Comments vocalist Bruce Dickinson, “We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited - with many other surprises! Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England (shown below*), including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favourites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can't wait to get started in Charlotte”.

Iron Maiden are delighted to announce that the extraordinary and legendary Alice Cooper will be their Very Special Guest on all shows up to July 21. After that date, Special Guest will be Coheed and Cambria, the inspiring, cutting edge band from New York.

Iron Maiden continue to be actively dedicated to ensuring their fans always have full access to the best possible tickets in the fairest possible way. Manager Rod Smallwood comments:

“We are trying to ensure that our fans get the tickets they want in the prime positions without paying over the odds to ticket scalpers. Maiden get infuriated with the way fans sometimes have to pay more than the ticket price to get good positions at our shows. So we will, wherever possible (Festivals excluded), with the assistance of the Promoters, arrange a paperless ticketing system at least for the front sections to try to eliminate as much of the ticket scalping and exchanges as we can. We put this into practice on our North American Tour in 2010; it worked well and we received many positive comments back from our fans, so we intend to increase this where feasible. With paperless ticketing, only those who actually pay initially for the tickets will get into the show so scalping is generally avoided (please see the comments from Ticketmaster below). We are also doing everything we can to avoid any drain of prime tickets going to the Secondary Ticketing sites which we feel make unfair profits from music fans.

As we consider all our fans to be VIPs, no tickets will be held specifically for VIP use. At some venues, the Promoter may provide the option for fans to pay extra for “VIP Parking”, early access, access to “VIP Bar” etc. But these will be purely optional for ticket holders only and will not be tied to ticket locations – the ability to get the best tickets should be the same for everybody outside of the usual presales.

Finally, we are of course once again arranging exclusive ticket pre-sales for our fan club members so they can be quick off the mark for great tickets and will also continue to run the contest in appropriate venues for fan club members so they can be ‘First To The Barrier’ prior to the show. We hope that these measures will help our fans as much as possible and ask that they keep checking for details on our website.”

TICKETMASTER comments:
Where possible the North American Iron Maiden shows will operate a paperless ticket policy. Select tickets will be sold via Ticketmaster’s Paperless Ticket delivery, which means fans will not receive a physical concert ticket for their entry into the event. Buying paperless helps ensure fans have secure and convenient access to event tickets at the intended original sale price. On the day of show, concert goers just need to bring the credit card they used for the ticket purchase and a government-issued photo ID to the concert. All members of the ticket purchaser's party must be present at the same time to enter the venue. The venue’s ticket usher will swipe their credit card upon entry and present each person in their party with seat locator slips for quick access into the show. To purchase paperless tickets or for more information, fans should visit www.ticketmaster.com/paperless or call the Ticketmaster charge-by-phone number at 1-800-745-3000.

I joined the Iron Maiden fanclub so I can get tickets during the presale and have a chance for tickets in the front row area. You don't want lawn tickets cause you wont see anything. You only want sections 1 - 8 or else if it rains your getting soaked.

How many presale tickets can you get if you're part of the fan club? I'd rather pay one of you guys a few bucks extra and buy two good tickets for me and my brother than pay an extra $50 to be part of an OFFICIAL fanclub.

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Feb 21,2012 10:47am
But why would I want shittier seats cause I bought 4 together instead of 2 officially?

Huh? So the more tickets you get, the worse section they're in?

toggletoggle post by KEVORD  at Feb 21,2012 10:52am
Since the begining of ticket selling time in the world yes. Since they have to find 4 seats together.

It's funny Manowar charged $75 for a ticket, and Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper on the same bill is $5 more. "excluding Jewish, no lube ticket master fees, respectively." It's been 4 years since I've seen them, so parting with $97 to be feet away from the stage isn't even a question for me. But last time, almost everyone in the pit were kinda just dads or boring norms with folded arms.

I haven't directly heard from anyone who has gone to Great Woods this year about drinking in the parking lot. I guess in past years they've confiscated alcohol. I may just go to the pay lot cause I heard they bust your balls less. The last time I saw Maiden at Great Woods during the Brave New World tour the cops had me on the ground ready to arest me cause I didn't have my I'd on me. Luckily it was in my car.

last time i was there (last time iron maiden played) the kids parked next to us drove all the way down from somewhere vermont and were total super fans, freaking out with cardboard guitars and getting wasted and screaming maiden songs at the top of their lungs. everytime security came by we all pocketed our beers and had to keep telling them to do the same, but they were young and dumb and not too quick with the reflexes and ended up getting caught with open containers. turned out the were all underage and when they consented to a car search (rookie move #2) security dudes found a big jar of weed. driver got hauled off to jail, all the kids got their tickets confiscated and the car got towed. it was pretty heartbreaking to watch.

Dance of Death
Piece of Mind

Yep. Maiden is, and always has been a GUITAR DRIVEN BAND. Vocals have always been secondary to me for them, regardless of who is singing. Their signature melodic riffs are still there on the old stuff. The production is typical of that era, and Paul's voice FIT THE SOUND of S/T and Killers. I am psyched to hear them, but it'll be different with Bruce on vox.
Also, why does everyone always drool over Bruce? Great vocalist, but not the highlight of the band. GUITARS.

i have seen and met Alice so many times. this is the first Alice show that cost more then i wanted to spend, thanks to IronMaiden needing so much jet fuel to get around on their own. plus they are full of themselves. maybe rightfully so. once at an Alice show in N.J. i even snuck on stage and hid behind an Alice prop once and watched his whole show from behind him. towards the end they tossed me in the audience. Brian Renfield Nelson caught me! he was cool about it. R.I.P.

Ross, some weird drunk dude and I drank $9.50 beers and sang along to every song. Best big time show I've been to in a long time. Yeah, but he was running around way less than when he first joined (and when I saw them in 2003), and only walked over to jam with the other guys a few times that I noticed... He's still definitely more rambunctious than Dave and Adrian, but he seemed to stick a lot more to his own little territory than in the past.

Which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned; his presence isn't bad for filling out and thickening the guitar sound, but it was goofy when he was sprinting back and forth every 2 minutes.

I wasn't there and in no way was i referring to myself
don't make it about me

others here commented on this same issue, friends of mine who were there told me it was apparent maiden didn't seem to have their usual energy 100% of the time... hell, even Bruce had something to say about it

i stick by my statement: compare last night's crowd to the crowds in Flight 666 or En Vivo and tell me you see no difference. Maiden feed off the crowds' energy. Always have. They give back what they get. Why do you think Bruce said what he said? Was Bruce 'blaming the victim'?

toggletoggle post by Headbanging_Man at Jun 27,2012 9:21pm
Their energy was fine, and clearly they were having a good time even if it wasn't the biggest crowd they ever played for. There were a few missed notes, but I just don't agree that they were "off" at all.

Bruce was giving his standard stage banter, which ALWAYS involves the "I can't fucking hear you" kind of thing. I don't think it would have done anyone any good if he'd said "That's loud enough Boston, why don't you bring it down a few notches?!?"

Besides, he fucked up too, during "The Prisoner". First he tried to get everyone clapping to the beat during the drum intro, then seemed to get a little annoyed when people didn't shout in unison during the guitar rests in the intro riff (ala the Maiden England video). But you can only give so many instructions to a stadium crowd in about 15 seconds and expect them to follow along. So he kinda fucked that one up a little, and I even think that's when the "Get your shit together" comment came. Get your shit together, Bruce!

I'm not going to nominate this crowd for an audience participation award, but I think plenty of appreciation was shown for the band. And even though crowd energy is indeed a tangible reality of shows, a well-paid professional band like MAIDEN should be putting in like 97% even when only 50 dudes in the back are going nuts.

I'll go out on a limb: even if last night was not the highlight of MAIDEN's live career, anyone that didn't have a fucking blast is totally jaded.

I don't doubt our fast food/Walmart culture, comparative economic luxury, and relative political stability/freedom make us a lot less impressive than, say, the Brazilians, when it comes to going crazy at shows, but that's a whole different set of issues entirely. Having only had the luck to see MAIDEN twice so far, I'd say the Mass. legions were a lot more impressive and involved this year than in Worcester 2003.

Exactly because they cherish any moment to see a band such as this. While half of the people at the us shows are fat middle aged dads checking the redsox score on their smartphones. USA isn't Brazil or Chile, so what? South America doesn't get concerts like we do, so it is a huge event, but at the same time do you think they are spending $11 for a beer and $85+ for tickets? You would get more action with general admission festivals where the younger kids who don't spend $120 can get up front. $40 shirts, $5 hotdogs $80 long sleeves... etc etc. It's the older crowd that can afford this. Who's gonna jump seats to get closer and risk being kicked out ofter dropping a ton of cash.

Iron Maiden are the professionals who are getting paid a fortune for this. I heard everyone screaming out. Look at the shots above, everyone has their hands in the air. I don't think the band is all bitching that Americans don't jump up and down. If they were that would just make them jaded and spoiled.

I'm so glad I can only read complaints/criticism rather than hearing them. I'd probably want to stab myself in the ear if I had to hear this much fucking whining in real life. I think for 6 guys in their 50s (maybe even breaking into their 60s?) still trying to jump around like madmen in tight pants and high top sneakers while trying not to fuck up your favorite songs, they did a hell of a job on Tuesday. I could only be so lucky to have half as much energy when I'm their age. For those of you who got a chance to see Iron Maiden in what many people would consider their prime, good for you, but not everyone is 3 days older than baseball. The fact that the crowd on Tuesday ranged from kids that were probably still in single digits to people old enough to be my grandparents is impressive enough for me to realize that Iron Maiden is timeless and anyone who ever had/will have the chance to see them before they retire is lucky, whether it was 30 years ago or 5 years from now.

On a somewhat related note, did anyone here see Maiden in 2000 for the Brave New World tour, with Halford and Queensryche? The show was so under-attended that if you kept your ticket stub to Ozzfest 2000 a few days prior, you got into the show for free. The lawn was practically empty, and by the time Maiden went on, my friends and I were able to just walk halfway through the covered seats and sit down without anyone batting an eye. Would anyone like to complain about that show too?

I was at that show in 2000 and also got in for free. Great woods used to let you onto the lawn for free with a ticket stub from another show a lot around that time.

I saw Iron Maiden in 1487, at a small Keep in London. This heathen wench was a witch at birth. A Iron Maiden dost her justice.

The nerd recording the show in front of me is going to be pissed when he gets home and finds out that all he can hear is my obnoxious scream-singing

I don't particularly care for people spending more time trying to tape shows than actually watch it, they can fuck off. But so can people screaming every word, often incorrectly. If I was dropping a pile of cash to hear Bruce sing, I want to hear Bruce, not you and your gaggle of silence-equals-death pals. That being said, I didn't go, pretty tired of Maiden.

Bruce is like a little ninja, I was so impressed with him and that set dressing

I bet you were, sailor.

I saw em headline for Fear Factory on their X Factor tour in 96 at Lupos. Show was cheap and one of my favorites to this day. I could think of things I would've liked to hear more of or members I preferred but why? It was A-fucking-mazing!

I missed this tour, but this does bring to my mind the Halford headlining tour in 2003 with Immortal and Behemoth (who I guess replaced Amon Amarth). I was in MI and saw the tour at a place basically equivalent to Avalon and was amazed that it was maybe 60% full at any time, including during Immortal and Halford's sets. Bizarre.

I'm pretty sure that 2003 Halford tour is the tour that I showed up to the Palladium the night of the concert and there was a sign saying the show was canceled. I was super bummed.
