Can I just jump in here and say again that it bothers me that all of a sudden Inquisition is everyones favorite band? Other than that, good show is good.

Are there really that many people into Inquisition? They put out a really good album last year so a few more people are interested in them. But it's not like I see them on the cover of Decibel and touring with Mastodon.

i'm not trying to call you out dude, but does it really bother you? they finally secured worldwide distribution a few years ago, combine that with really catchy riffs and a minimal/unique approach to stale music, and being on every top ten list on the internet for the last two years, they're gonna catch on. rightly so, the dude has been at it for 20+ years and he brings a hell of a lot to the table. i only have heaps of respect for the guy and to see a cult band do well that isn't a "business" or "product" is so fucking refreshing.
the old saying is the value of art diminishes the more people consume it. personally, they haven't disappointed me yet and i don't think they ever will.
Inquisiton went from kvlt band in 2001,2002 to fairly popular in the black metal scene here. Like the vocals are not, they are the BEST 2 piece band I've ever seen.
Ross is right about how many more people dig them now, but I guess thats what 10 years and the internet does.

they've definitely blown up since that album came out (eh, whatever. i think its a fucking good album). but its pretty relative. "blowing up" in the underground bm scene means a a few hundred people might come out to a show, not thousands.
I have a rep? Also, I didn't say I didn't like them.
it was more aimed at cherhoniak saying he'd watch 'em, but not like them too much.
shit's funny. just like things, or don't. whatever.
I said they were alright and would watch their set. How does that factor into me pretending to not like them? I have opinions about them yes. I listen to Opeth, meshuggah and phil collins. I really dont care how many ppl like a band. Anyone who knows me knows this.

That's what my point was. Their popularity is a percentage of a percentage.
yeah, i think it will do awesome upstairs at mideast. probably even sell out. but if it was downstairs i would imagine they'd be playing to a half empty room.
pretty sure its by request (abazagorath drummer is drumming for ipsissimus for this show, didn't want to play back-to-back sets). i don't care where we play, just psyched this show is happening.
I donylt care what the lineup order is. I'm just humbled to be able to rub ziplock baggies full of african semen all over my nipples and belly button on stage while dipping my balls in pine-scented laundry detergent and reading from the Eldar codex into a bass drum mic.

All I know is that this is one hell of a killer gig and respect to Mike for making it happen. Hopefully i can score an INQUISITION hoodie like Paulina's @ the gig.
for those of you who are wondering what Herugrim is and never heard of us, my apologies. we never got around to releasing an actual recording..
All we have are shitty-ass old clips up on http://www.myspace.com/herugrimclan
Thanks again Mike. Looking forward to the killer show.

I think is has been a steady growth in popularity, you are only really noticing it now. I have been into them for a few years, but it was the performance at MDF IX that really moved it up a notch for me. I'm sure other people got the spark there too.
Just think about that while munching on your Slaad Salad.
FUCKING STOKED. don't care that they're more popular...fucking love inquisition and abazagorath fucking rules and the locals i dig as well.
this is gonna be one hell of a show.
post by MikeOv at Feb 15,2012 12:20am
Why would it ever matter if a band becomes more popular, as long as they're producing the same quality of music that you've come expect from them?
i missed the Impiety show last October too cause i was in Virginia playing a show. i need to plan according next time.
post by chrisREX at Feb 15,2012 9:48am
I don't care for Inquisition's early stuff much, but I do love their last couple albums. They completely ruled the stage at MDF last year.

Since we're most certainly going on first, I was wondering if you guys would like to use my cab to save setup time? Way too early think about this, but I will offer it.
well really they were 2004-2008ish. They exploded when "Si Monumentum.." came out. FMP was drooling over them for sometime.
I remember that FMP dude Traume von Herbst or whatever.. Had a homemade Moonblood beanie and got SHAT on because of that. Hahaha, I should start posting there again. Forum was ridiculous.

a lot of us used to be into machine products and such back in the early to mid-2000s, and we met on the FMP message board. there was a co-worker with a penchant for wearing gucci loafers to work on casual fridays there that would always talk about how he wanted to make the screen of the Programmable Digital Timer SEVEN INCHES wide instead of the industry standard 6.4 inches, hence the joke 'i want to seven inch LCD'
Haha. No wheelchair- but if someone can get me enough Dilaudid to prohibit fiber gnomes for a week, I can bring the old crutches, take a seat and see if we can relive the magic

its cool, in the '90s i used to fight nazis with the best of 'em (back when people knew the difference between organized nazis who would trash shows or jump your friends and random people or bands who don't walk some hyper pc line or happen to have different politics/beliefs). if anyone needs someone to explain how stupid it would be to fuck with this or any other show i'm happy to act as liason.

It's just symptomatic of running out of targets; 19 year-old college students who hear all about whatever tales of olden glory they tell at the Democracy Center or the EG Bookstore, and want to get in on the action. Except there's nobody left around who isn't either a) in established crews that, let's be honest, these kids would never fuck with, or b) living out in the woods, somewhere.

either way, this show seems solidly unfuckwithable. i mean, i guess one of the ex-members of abazagorath is in disma with that dude who had that sketchy side project back whenever... but i'd think that's a pretty tough sell as far as rallying points go. plus the number of latin folks who will be there supporting would probably put the antifa kids to shame.

yeah, plus they got a two night stint booked (playing the night before too). it would be funny if this show sold enough advance tickets to have them consider a room swap.
Are you fucking Serious??
I would put money down that if this show was downstairs, itd draw more considering Archers of SUCK is also playing the night before

pretty much, but that other show is booked by that bowery booking place that does all those big roxy shows etc. i'm gonna guess that mideast doesn't want to rock the boat with them unless they really think theyre gonna get screwed on the night.
That one was legitimately lulzy. Archnett of Viskloaf.

Inquisition- boring hypnotic shitmetal with horrible vocals
Abazagorath- washed up garbage from Jersey
Ipssisimus- dumb name band full of suck off jewbags
Nachzehrer- grindcore band
Herugrim- not even a black metal band. fuck this show.

Let's be fair. Herugrim is a brilliant power metal band.

They have "grim" right in their name for chrissakes.
"For many years INQUISITION has loyally walked upon the path of Black Metal deeply devoted to its spirituality and magic while growing and maturing our craft, yet always preserving the essence that ignited us since our beginning, always keeping us rooted in the elements that make us what we are now and who we were in the past. Time is relativity and this relativity is affected by choice and selection during our time of existence as INQUISITION. Therefore our careful choice of a new label as a means to take us further into our journey, and your journey, extending this path we walk upon into deeper dimensions and allowing us to heighten our potential will be placed in the hands of Season of Mist. At this time we are heavily devoted to the composition and arrangement of our next opus. We know what we want, we know what you expect and we look forward to 2012 being the year of creation and production of this upcoming ritual. With pride we announce this new relationship and with pride we will continue to deliver INQUISITION at its finest... Hail the cult."
I'm stoked for this show. Inquisition were great live at Messe Des Morts, even at 1:00am after drinking and watching bands for 7 hours.

Two points,
1) Every person has a mental point of stable equilibrium, the ultimate position of balance that can only be achieved for a moment before inertia wins and everything collapses. For me, this point came when I was walking alone in a deep-cut desert canyon, floored by sandstone slabs that rasped against each other under my weight. That sound called me back to a cold winter day when I was 13, when my best friend and I crossed the barbed wire fence onto my neighbor's property to slide around on the thin ice left at the bottom of a drained pond. After a while we jumped until we cracked the ice, and then levered a big piece off of the dark clay. Underneath, hundreds of salamanders wriggled slowly, freed from their cold compression but doomed to dessication and death by exposure. When I walked on those sandstone slabs in that hot, quiet canyon, I felt as if I was grinding desert salamanders into dust.
2) With the Queen's express permission, I will find my way to O'Briens for Parasitic Extirpation on the 8th, possibly with some fine herb. Perhaps some hardy midshipmen will find profit in this enterprise?

Its embarrassing to be an american when you have such ignorant counrtymen like this who not only can't spell a known country but probably think all Colombians are brown, live in grass huts, and can't be from the US while having Colombian blood.Duur
Dagon knows both spanish and english, has a Colombian mother and US father and lived down there for a short period of time where the band was started.Learning can be fun!
Piggy-backers ? All you are doing is insulting Inquisition for wanting a more wide spread tour area. We happen to get on the show no conspiracy theory bullshit , no aliens and no less metaler-than-thou shit.

Fuck off. Yes, I'm concerned about whether yours and the NH guarantees share the expense of getting them out here because it affects MY bottom line. You paying more means Brother Sardu paying less means Ipsissimus getting our full $470 guarantee. You think I do this for the music? Pfffffffffft

I'm doing this for the music , so is everyone else who is doing their part to get this great band ( INQUISITION ) in and out of each city to spread the cult of the majestic throne . OK i had to throw that in . Anyway everyone involved is leading a hand , i'm in charge of their transportation .
There are no crumbs . Either people will go to Boston/ New York or they won't . Providence and New Hampshire will get those that don't want to go into Boston or New York . These were needed dates that were open and planned on being booked regardless of who the in state contact may have been .
You see, you see. These guys are the worst , eyes beez ewst to beez in da band. But no I knows better. Don't support that show they are playing , theys not deserve to open for a band like Inquisition.Let me buy you a beer nekronaut at the Boston show and we can talk about it. Getting down to the wire.. only 60 tickets left and only 12 days away. This show is going to sell out so don't miss out on getting your ticket while they are still available online.
We CANNOT hold tickets for anybody and if they aren't any available at the door you only have yourself to blame for waiting.
Oof, just found out I'm gonna be traveling to Alaska for a couple weeks. Unfortunately the drive from Anchorage to Cambridge isn't quite manageable. I ordered my ticket on will call so I don't think I can even give it to someone else. Can someone confirm or deny?
fuckin christ on a rubber crutch did this goddamn show happen yet.
.
yea like two weeks ago someone asked me if I was going and I literally said 'wasn't that show like a month ago?'
I'm so used to waiting for this show and feeling like it's still far off that I had to remind myself that it is LITERALLY TOMORROW! I picked up my ticket right after it was announced...feels like a lifetime ago.
Haha, I'm kinda glad I didnt go to this and just saw them in NH. I hate sardine can upstairs of middle east. Ass-sweating buttdarts rubbing all over my shit is not cool.
Pictures are kind of funny. Crowd goes from completely bored almost mad that Abazagorath is playing to having their dick sucked by satan in the front row for Inquisition. AS YOU SHOULD.
The guys with the vinyl got a little crazy at the end. They wanted the band to sign every record and poster inside the record. One kid had like ten records to be signed when the guys were trying to pack up their shit. But Dagon and Incubus were gracious and signed everything. Herugrim were fantastic by the way. It's too bad they didnt have cds cause they would have sold alot of them. Alot of people came up to the merch table and asked who the first band was cause they liked them.
bahahha, holy shit. cherhoniak diving into the crowd and taking that kid's record away was one of my top highlights of the night. fucking awesome show. still drunk. off to find some breakfast.
I was pretty stoked about a five band show starting on time and staying on schedule (or even faster than the schedule) right up until Abazagoroth played for 90 minutes!

Seriously, I have never understood why bands do that.
Also, some great synchronized moves from the Rev and the other photographer snapping pictures out right next to him.
Same here about Herugrim, they were excellent. It was worth getting there early enough to see them play. Nachzehrer's set might've been the hardest I've seen them rage yet.
Not much I can add about Inq and Abz other than they were as fucking awesome as expected, maybe moreso.

Lol at the corner where all of our equipment was.
and lol @ the catholic jeopardy game ?
show was fun.. Thanks for having it.. Big props to Notshaver and Nachzehrer for setting it up and being all around great dudes. Also, Tall Eric is the MAN and knows how to mix.
Show review:
Herugrim - I had a loose connection with my footswitch and it would have resulted in the amp cutting out. Glad it didnt happen. it was great to be on stage again and we look forward to future shows!
Nachzehrer- the mix was great and you guys definitely put on a great show. definitely sounds different with 2 guitars
Morgirion - havent seen them in a while and they sounded different than I remember. Beleth is a beast on stage and did something after the show that involved getting yelled at, apparently haha
Abazagorath - parts of their set reminded me of Dissection. I have two of their albums but couldnt make a song out that I remembered. Must have been a bunch of new stuff? Great guys, though. Definitely worth seeing again.. I was tucked away in the corner and had a bad vantage point
Inquisition- tight chops, not many fuckups, great sound. They always put on a great show. The mix was perfect for them.
One last LOL at the vinyl incident, and also the fanboy crap after the show. DuckDuckAlex was in there 15 minutes after they told everyone to leave that wasnt in a band. We were trying to load our equipment back into the van and had to walk aroind an autograph session everytime. kind of got annoying.
Morgirion - havent seen them in a while and they sounded different than I remember. Beleth is a beast on stage and did something after the show that involved getting yelled at, apparently haha
"THEY ARE FUCKING MY GIRLFRIEND! WHO IS FUCKING MY GIRLFRIEND! STOP FUCKING MY GIRLFRIEND!"
i got kinda shit housed after our set and mustve missed all the fanboy stuff. weird. i guess maybe on some level i appreciate it when people aren't totally jaded and still get excited about bands... but mostly i really don't. cool that the inquisition guys were real patient about the whole thing and weren't dicks. nice dudes.
if anyone ever asked me to sign something, I would scribble 'suck dick FAGGOT' illegably enough so that he wouldn't realize it wasn't my name til he got home.

lollerz @ people "too cool" for autographs, you know you'd all be jacked if you had a Euronymous or Jon Whatshisface from Dissection, people are probably hoping these guys'll get killed and sell it for a mint to someone even nerdlier. I wasn't there, but if I was, I'd get something signed, why not? People appreciate being appreciated, musicians or otherwise.
"if anyone ever asked me to sign something, I would scribble 'suck dick FAGGOT' illegably enough so that he wouldn't realize it wasn't my name til he got home. "
I had to sign an Abaroth album last year and it was weird because it's fookin black metal kid and we're all nobodies. If I was in a super trending black metal band, I would never turn down an autograph either. The fanboy mentality when all the bands were unloading was just annoying as hell.
because it's fuckin INQUISITION, not ronnie james dio. when did this random ass bands autograph become valuable? and I agree it's cool for the band to get recognition, but the people waiting in line to have every single thing they've ever bought signed still deserve to be made fun of.
post by ABastard NLI at Apr 30,2012 1:05pm
I've declined signing shit...i signed this one kids denim jacket in England cause he was a KID...but when adults asked I honestly declined. It's absurd.
Whether it's holding down the merch table or waiting an hour after the show ends to pester a musician to sign your purchases, it all boils down to different methods of showing SUPPORT.

Yeah, If someone wants an autograph that's their business. But having a stack of LP's to sign when the bands trying to pack up and the clubs turning the lights off is extremely ignorant.
when it comes down to it, I could really care less, I'm glad for everyone involved that the show went as well as it sounds like it did, it's just WEIRD that so many people not only care about inquisition all of a sudden, but are like FANBOYS
I thought all the bands were great/played well. I was kinda sloppy behind the set, but i thought we played a great set with Eric. Thanks to tall man for the sound, and Everyone for having a good time/not fucking things up!
he was legit beaming with excitement when i ran into him at the bar just before they went on. that guy is the anti-ross when it comes to inquisition love.
I seriously kept crashing into people with big heavy tube amps when they didn't respond to my hollering to FUCKING MOVE. They still didn't get the goddamn message.
I've declined signing shit...i signed this one kids denim jacket in England cause he was a KID...but when adults asked I honestly declined. It's absurd.
I know I'm pretty late on this but Herugrim fucking slayed on Saturday. It was awesome catching up with people I haven't seen in at least a year. It was equally awesome being asked to politely leave during Inquisition's set for my poor audience manners. Inquisition makes all the terrible come out of me in a burst. Nachzehrer were ferocious. Glad to see Eric back from CA.
I remember me and a friend at new england metal and hardcore fest and we stumbled upon the vocalist of Cephalic Carnage. I can't remember if it was me or my friend, but one of us asked the guy to sign a CD we just bought.
At the moment, King Diamond was getting set up to play next and the Cephalic Carnage vocalist was really drunk and hanging out with a girlfriend of someone in the Red Chord (how did I know that? I don't know, but that's how I remember it). When we asked him to sign the CD he screamed "KING RHINESTONE!!!!" over and over and gave the cd to the girl and she signed it for him. Best signature ever.
Another time we drove down to see Emperor play one of the reunion gigs in NYC. Like tru kvlt black metal warriors, they were doing a signing at Borders. My friends brought shit to get signed, but I didn't have anything. So I bought a copy of Cat in the Hat and had Ihsahn sign it.

Erich broke a string during their first song and sat out the second to fix his guitar, maybe that's what you're thinking of? He's pretty hard to miss otherwise, dude is taller than Mark.
