yea it is a bit pricey but everything was made in the good ole USA quality product looks like it was stolen from the 80's and brought back to the time we live in now. great fun! cool are. no color in any of the playing cards, tiles or game board. been getting back into playing war games and living card games. winter time just got more grim.
It's fucking excellent for what it is: game art (from an indie company, no less). The sheer amount of art resources even a modest board game requires means that, unless it's a labor of love (by somebody that DOESN'T make their living off art and can therefore spend all their time grinding away on one project), quantity has to be job one, with quality and timeliness (i.e., making your print deadline) fighting for #2 and #3. This is at or above average art for a "big-name" (a relative term in a microscopic hobby like boardgaming) board game, well above for indie. (Board games in particular are a heavy investment for an indie company, since the overhead is fucking huge.) If this looked better, it'd either cost 120 bucks, or be from Fantasy Flight (and be tepid and exactly like every other game FFG publishes, see Doom, Descent, etc.).
Open invitation to any neckbeard in this thread that wants to bust out boardgames at our game lair. This or whatever - I've got a modest selection laying around. Space Hulk, Space Crusade, and the fucking huge giant Sid Meier's Civilization bg from Eagle that takes up the entire goddamn table and is awesome.
I was going to say something negative about this until I trolled the site and checked it out a bit more...I could get down with this. I'll bring the bong and heady nuggets.
Pyschomancer of Fire=Easiest Victory against Awakened Evil.
Also, did you modify the rules for game play? We changed the way resources are distributed to expedite gameplay among a few other minor changes.
we started to use more of the advanced rules. like abandoing creature squads. i won a game by killing darkest statue of death then attacking my oppenets power crystals and winning the game.very very very very very very awsome game art work is awsome done by local providence artist matt brinkman. he is the saem guy who brought bathtubshitter and world downfall to the north east. has done tons of comics ect. art work is amazing compared to faggot ass magic cars. no color total grim and gore stained madenss! and i did mention this that all the components were made and printed in the USA no slave labor or cheap european tiles here boys. and rich ill be at the club house tonight. we will talk and get down on this asap!

PS the psychomancer is awsome as well as the necromancer that can carry and use 4 items i forget his name but he rules. also one of the creatures(larvampyer??) abalties is that the opponent cant roll during the fight round so just the raw numbers count!

Rules of War,pg.29 Evil Awakens: " 'Once per game abilities' are blessings from the Shadow Lords beneath and are considered a laughable display of power when used against them."

How does combat work in this? If it's not a stupid-long answer
post by punk potenza at Jan 16,2012 1:08pm
there are hex's that border the creature cards with stats on each side of the hex Armor, strength, special, doge, blood thirst and weapon. there are 3 fight rounds in the combat phase. Attacker chooses the first stat in the first rough. THEN defender pics an adjcent stat to defend. if the defender wins the second round, it gose to the third remaining adjcent stat. if i didnt clear up go to the cave evil web sight or the cave evil thread on board game geek.com
hard to explain. but the game play is more indepth and game play and rules change with every game you play. the way one game ends effects the next game played. so and and so forth. pretty interesting when its mabey not 85 dollors ill buy this. cave evil was my major board game purchase for the year unitll i get a steady income back
greatest tabletop game ever...probably. i won the first game by evading cthulhu, the second game i was not so lucky. the artwork, card variety, and emergent cave gameplay is just awesome.
There are 4 artists and like 9 guest artists listed in the manual credits, don't know if you'll be able to pick out which is which. Probably contact the game publishers, they might be able to help.

I'll just shoot one an email. We were talking a few weeks ago.
I preordered a copy this afternoon. More people need to get on this preorder so this second printing can go through. DYA and I need our own copy to play on AD&D off weeks.
I don't know how I missed this thread when it was first posted, but the game looks pretty awesome. Is it worth getting Cave Evil now or should I just wait for Cave Evil 2?
Also, that page is somewhat confusing. Is Warcults Cave Evil 2 or just an expansion to the original? I couldn't find any info on the site about Cave Evil 2, so I wasn't sure.
The original was printed twice and has sold out. You may be able to still find it, though. Warcults is essentially Cave Evil 2, and you don't need the original. It's an expansion of the world (The Pit) but the game itself can be played on its own.

He's a pinball wizard
There has to be a twist.
A pinball wizard's got such a supple wrist.
Bought a copy of Cave Evil (2nd Edition). If any gaming nerds want to geek out some night, let me know. Only other person I've played with so far is my lady and most of my friends would balk at having to learn all the rules for something like this.
