I still wouldn't classify slipknot as straight up "nu metal". then again, I only heard mate feed kill repeat (strange album with funk elements) and the s/t, which equally had the same amount of industrial and death metal influence as "nu metal."

Bands like Disturbed, Primer55, later Machinehead, Ill Nino (worst fucking band ever) etc were nu metal. i'm so happy that fad is dead.... Or is it?

Silly costumes check, Tribal drumming with multiple drummers check, Clean vocals in your chorus's check, asking the audience to JUMP THE FUCK UP check,silly ballads on waaf check. Smells like Numetal to me.

lol, I'm not going to argue because they totally had nu metal influence, especially the vocals. I'm just speaking musically. The first album is when they had 6 members and a different vocalist.
some of my friends liked them back in the day and I thought MFKR was a stange listen. MTV got a hold of them, told them to rip off Mushroomhead and the Slipknot as we know it was born. One of those take it for what it was bands. I caught them live at one of the Ozzfests (2000? Cant remember) and loled.

i don't care what anyone says, the eponymous Slipknot album is killer. everything else is fail.

Truth. I like about 1/2 of Iowa as well.
