I wanted this one: http://www.amazon.com/XVT3D554SV-55-Inch-T...uLED-Dimming-Internet/dp/B0045TYDXC

but it's now over $2K for a new one.

So I'm thinking of getting the toshiba since it's $1299 with free shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-55TL515U-55-inch-Natural-LED-LCD/dp/B004MFDL3C

Anyone? Plus the toshiba has passive 3D so the 3d glasses aren't powered or whatever.

looks like they have it at the place next to my house. I'll have to go look tonight with the boy.

Why bother getting a 3Dtv?? Overpriced for no good reason.

toggletoggle post by lost ark at Nov 30,2011 12:57pm
way too much for me. i'd get something in the 40-50 inch range for $600+ less. anything over 120Hz is a gimmick. remember that the bigger the tv, the more blurry and washed out the picure is, even if the input is true 1080p. especially cable and dvd - it looks horrible at 55". if you game on it, consoles support 1080p, but most games don't support anything more than 720p. 720p doesn't look great at 55". but, see it in-person and figure it out, i just think you can do the same for half price with something else. also, 3D? really?

I've used 3D on my 47" version of the first link in this thread twice since I got it. It might be entertaining for the kids but there's just not a good amount of decent/cheap content out there. Waiting until this is on clearance: http://www.amazon.com/IMAX-Under-Single-Disc-Blu-ray-Combo/dp/B00447G2O8/

I won't be watching cable OR DVDs OR bluray on it.
I have never watched a bluray.

And the room that I'm putting this in needs 55".

I hate 3D, but it's built into the TV so why not.

reasons I "need" this TV
1) 55" is what I need to fit the room it's in
2) DLNA built in so my media servers will share right to it
3) LED with high contrast ratio since my house is super sunny and I can't see the TV screen on my current TV during the day

toggletoggle post by lost ark at Nov 30,2011 1:14pm
well alright. it's a different story if you're sitting 30 feet away from it. DLNA is a must. the price seems high. what are you doing with your old one?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Nov 30,2011 1:35pm
Fuck HD.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2011 1:48pm
for 55" LED, this is a great price. A plasma would be $800

my TV isn't worth anything.. it's a rear projection 48" TV. I'm going to put it upstairs until I figure out how to donate it to something/someone and get a tax write off.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2011 2:31pm
BTW: that TV is $1229 from adorama with free shipping

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2011 2:35pm
I'm also going to get long HDMI cable to hook to my desktop.. and hook my iPad to the VGA so I can facetime on a 55" screen.

any TV not hooked up to a PC is false

I have a slightly older version of this beast: http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-WD-73638-...73-Inch-3D-Ready-HDTV/dp/B003JH7KT0

It's huge and we haven't had any problems with it.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2011 3:14pm
youve got to be f'n kidding me... 73"?

When the Ivy Bridge (aka i7-3860) laptop processors come out in the spring, my plan is to get one, ditch my desktop except for scanning photos (need old school firewire) and have a wallmount for my laptop behind the tv.

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Nov 30,2011 3:20pm
yeah, it's DLP though. 73" LED is probably a billion gold septims.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Nov 30,2011 3:21pm
73" for DLP sounds about right. Btw, I could output 1080p via hdmi with my phone if I wanted to.

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Nov 30,2011 3:36pm
Mine's actually a 72", and it's a few years old. Maybe not as crisp as the LEDs, but makes up for it with pure obnoxious size. Ties together the room (or takes it over completely).

Here you go, problem solved -- $60 for a 52" Sony: http://www.nomorerack.com/savedeals2/index...81&gclid=COmss6-a36wCFUdn5Qod6GersQ

Bullshit link. Auction starts at $60, now a bit more than that :P

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Nov 30,2011 4:17pm
Ha, it just popped up in my gmail header ads. I didn't bother to investigate further as I didn't want to give any email info to those scumbags.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Nov 30,2011 4:20pm
Well now they have my spam email address. The sacrifices we make in the name of our rev, seriously.

Just paid 265 for a 40 inch 1080 element ghetto chinese tv. Came with a dead pixle.

toggletoggle post by The_reverend   at Nov 30,2011 7:19pm
I just looked at the tv at state street. Cable looked good. wasn't on hd though I think.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 1,2011 8:51am
