New site? Maybe some day.

I was thinking and I want to learn how to silk screen so I can make a bunch of shitty shirts just to hand out or whatever.
any one got any idea what I'd need to buy?
I just want white and black ink. |
|
my friend does silk screening. i'll ask him when i see him at work later. |
|
a screen, emultion, light source, transparency of what you want to print, fabric ink, something to push the ink through the screen, shirts.. |
|
You can get a kit that has everything you need for like $50 at Pearl Art supplies & probably any other big art store. It comes with instructions and everything. You can also just get a screen and make a scencil out of plastic or something and do it with fabric ink. It all depends on how intricate of a design you want to print. |

the reverend made me shirts long ago =) |

email bobing4barker@hotmail.com or at yahoo.com, I forget which is which.
That kid is Andy from Terminal Youth. He does Silk Screening very often and can give good advice. |

hm... I think I'll check out that thing at pearl street and I'll e-mail your friend. I would like to print out a couple shirts to give out at hell-fest and njmhf and nemhf... just some shitty shirts with a design, url and crap. |

some cheap tips:
if you're not using photographic emulsion (you're painting the design right onto the screen), you can use cheap polyester fabric, or 50/50 cotton/poly even. you can get a shitty picture at a yard sale for its frame, rip out the picture, and staple-gun the fabric tight across the frame.
you're better off getting the kit, though -- it has a little of everything you will need. I did the Id shirts with a standard Speedball screen and photographic emulsion -- they came out pretty well. |
