Damn, really?? Took me 7.5 hours to get from Kingston NY to Worcester MA. Most roads were flooded and they shut down some highways. Ended up driving my Spivic through some deep puddles; 'twas a fun ride though.

I-90 was (might still be) shut down from Syracuse to Schenectady.
Traveling from Syracuse to Boston I left yesterday morning at 10:30 (before the Thruway was shut down in Syracuse) but still had to get off one exit past Utica, sat in traffic that had to be detoured around all the flooded state highways, drove through an Amish village and got home at 3:30 this morning after stopping at some friends' in Sturbridge to take a half hour nap.
I'm pretty psyched about this solid show. When I get a flyer I'm passing that shit out everywhere.

What's so bad about Club Lido? I haven't been to that venue in a few years, but as far as I can remember, I had no complaints at the time. Right off the highway, plenty of parking, and plenty of space to move around. I'm just glad I finally get another shot at seeing Absu. Been a fan of those guys since I was in high school and have yet to see them.
They were awesome at MDF uhhh 7, maybe 8, whenever. Then in NYC the following month. I met Proscriptor and he seemed wicked nice. I was slightly disappointed he didn't speak in his high pitched magic voice though.

I saw Averse Sefira back in 02 at NEMHF, asked one of the dudes for a clove while in line for Sausage....and I was greeted by a mysterious fella, whom I swear was Proscriptor. He introduced himself as something like "I'm am the enlightened exalted one" and I was all, "That's cool, I got a tin foil bowl if you wanna get high". I never thought much of it until MDF and in between songs he jumped up from behind the kick and was raving "I'm fucking Proscriptor and yes I FUCKING DELIEVER" and I was warped back to scent of cloves, sausage and cheap weed.
He rocked that mask in Bloodstorm when we toured with them...his gear was fucking ridiculous; by ridiculous I mean awesome. All hand made, hand painted etc...

I agree that ABSU is amazing but come on. You have all hipsters going to this show obviously because they are the only ones that go to BM shows these days. Real fans stay home and remember a time when BM was cool and something of value. Now everyone including rich hipsters are taking it all over. Not to mention they are GREEN which is not anti everything like Black Metal once was. It totally lost its MAGIC. I check out all the opening acts too and they all look like overnighters. So I will just remember the time I saw ABSU in NEW PORT RI years ago when it was actually worth something and there weren't any posers in the audience.

I am playing in one of the opening bands. I used to listen to The Metal Cage show, I used to go to all the shows at Babyhead -
i was in high school at the time of the Absu, Enslaved, Incantation, December Wolves show.
My friend Wayne and i waited for weeks with sick anticipation for this show -
His Chevy Cavalier died on the way to the show.
Thus, we did not make it. It sucked so badly.
It has haunted me ever since, especially hearing "The TROO" that went to the show proclaming it being "The greatest show that ever happened!" etc etc.
Thanks to the fact that i was penpals with Equitant and the fact that the Metal Cage show promoted the gig and let like-minded people know about it, i was able to (almost) attend and support the music and the bands.
I dont know how many people were at said show but, i know one thing: whether there was 3 or 300 people, it probably wouldn't have satisfied a person such as you because you dont even know what YOU want from a band or its fans.
Dont shit on people because they were born in the wrong decade or whatever....you were an uncool shit once apon a time too, until someone showed YOU the light.
You obviously wont give these bands a chance no matter how good or how hardworking they are. Its all about the music and the brotherhood of being with like-minds, its a shame that you cant see it like that - - maybe your band never made it?? TOO BAD SWEETIE

Yeah. I got some hard stares for walking away from that stage with an absu shirt on. SORRY GUYS but fests aren't always pretty. Proscriptior dropped some sticks, they sounded like shit, couldn't see their guitars, and after standing out there for hours, we decided it was time to get high. I am much more psyched seeing them close to home
Glad to be on the bill. Blessed Offal is about as real as it gets. I don't play in bands with so called fake/false people. I bought Venom's Black Metal when it first came out as a recommendation from John Anastas (DYS) when he use to work at Newbury Comics back in 1982. Not too long after that I saw Metallica in front of 20 or so people at the Rat when they did the "Kill em all/all for one" tour. From there it's been a rocky but fun uphill ride since then.
Anyone who thinks Blessed Offal is false can go fuck themselves.

ok, my cellphone battery died... around 9:30... then I started adding everything up and that absu would be playing until after 1am. I got pissed.
The sound guy needs to be proactive and force all the bands on/off the stage. I got really angry about that.
oh well, watched 3 absu songs and left.

Great line up. Absu was so much better then when I saw them at MDF two years ago. Though, that set was outside, and rarely does a metal band sound good outside. So much talent in one band.

Nachzehrer was my next favorite. Fantastic energy, Dissection riffs, incredible drummer with a machine left hand.

People kept stepping on the guitarist's cords and caused the sound to cut out 3 times. Then one of the people got mad when the guitarist told everyone to "back the fuck up" and instead of just backing up, kept giving dirty looks and making rude comments about it. Something tells me Absu wasn't very happy by the end of the night. Proscriptor straight ignored the guy next to me who kept calling his name and trying to say thank you for coming to MA.
But oh well. They played a great set anyway, and I was especially happy with their choices for the "last" song and for the encore! I've been imagining those live since the ripe young age of 16 or 17.

Hall of Fame tip: If you're going away from the rotary by the dog track towards Lynn (Wonderland station and the Ballroom are on your right), you can take a left at the next set of lights (7 Eleven will be on your right), and then take the next left (just before Billy Tse's). You can park anywhere in that neighborhood and walk over, and the walk from there is shorter than parking on the beach side.
