anyone ever cough up or clear their throat and end up with what i call a food ball? It's not one particular food you ate but seemingly a collection. If you smell one it smells gawdawful! somethimes I wake up chewing on one. Nasty.........
Any insight on this phenomenon? |

are you a cat? you must be a cat. |
It's like a little brownish chunk of food. I can reach deep into to corners of my mouth and sometimes pull one out. |
Food bits, primarily carbohydrate-type things (rice, bread, pasta) get caught in pits in your tonsils because they're soft and can fit in. The act of swallowing creates pressure in that area, forcing these things in. This is exactly the same smell as what you'd get from flossing a hefty chunk out, but stronger because it's significantly larger. There's really not much that can be done about them, besides having your tonsils removed, and being hypervigilant about when it does happen / removing them quickly. |
That's actually a correct answer, it's crap that gets stuck in your tonsils. |
^ Removing the bits quickly that is, not removing the tonsils quickly. But yeah, that too. |
I said "food pockets" and no one batted an eye. pretty sure it's the same thing. |
food pockets sounds tasty.
rancid tonsil garbage does not. |
getting your tonsils removed as an adult results in the worst horrible pain for 2 weeks. you're probably better off dealing with teh smelling food balls. |
