South Park dethroned the Simpsons for me a couple of seasons ago.

for me nothing beats the simpsons.
south park gets points for offending everyone and not holding back on delivery. but they tend to reuse their own memes a lot. and they said it themselves, simpsons did it.
both shows are classic.

I love both shows. They've both gone places that other shows have not. If you're taking current south park vs current simpsons, south park wins. But classic simpsons = win overall. They pioneered so much territory in the land of lulz.

Very, very true. I just think South Park's been more consistently hilarious through their 13 or 14 seasons than The Simpsons were up to that point.

And it's really the ONLY show that can/could/would/will ever be in this debate.

Brenda Starr invented the armored car in 1989 which although considered the forbearer to the tank is not itself a tank.

Update: The kids in my last period class finished their quiz early and I let them do whatever as long as they didn't get too loud. It was an 8th grade class and the only girl was absent today so of course conversation quickly shifted to Black Ops. A student asked me if I liked Black Ops and I told him that the inclusion of tanks was an anachronism that detracted from my sense of immersion.
