i ain't talking riffs, like iron man or smoke on the water. i mean the first complete song! the one you sat there for an hour rewinding your tape deck 30 times, trying to get it right. no tab books, nobody helping, just you feeling so goddamn proud of yourself.

mine: Exodus- Fabulous Disaster

I can't remember exactly which song it was but I started out playing a lot of Beatles songs. My father knew how to play the guitar and would never teach me how to play, he'd rather I figured it out myself so he'd give me teaser lessons and leave the rest up to me! Pretty cool.

I think my 1st compltete song i learned was The memory remains by Metalica, not sure though. I remember the 1st riff i was able to play was the opening riff to Same old song and dance by Aerosmith.Man I can remember everyone telling me I sucked at guitar back then and that i would never amount to anything on guitar. Now Im pretty much better on guitar than everyone i know.

I don't play guitar but our old guitarist taught me how to play Slaughterhouse by Mortician.

toggletoggle post by Teratism at Apr 27,2004 9:59pm
Yeah, the first song I learned how to play was Black Dawg by Zeppelin back in 8th grade son. I learned to play drums using those metal prop-up things under the base drum. Aight, now I've said too much.

That's cool man!! My dad's been to a few shows and he's amazed. The other person that really inspired me to play is my older cousin, he's 10 years older than me. He had all the sweet 80's gear back in the day, always had a couple guitars and at least a half stack (if not more). I always wanted to be just like him as a kid, I guess that's why my 11 year old nephew looks up to me so much, he comes over to a full practice studio in my basement and is in awe, it's really cool to think that I used to be that kid!
