Just got done watching this for about the 100th time. I love this movie. I hear they are making a prequel to this (of course) where it is set with the Norwegian camp before the Americans and Macready find the alien. It is supposed to come out in 2011. I hope they do the classic some justice.

This movie has one of my favorite scenes of all time, when the guy is about to use the defibrillator on the alien, and it eats his arms off

Yup, haha. It looks more like a vag with teeth. I like when the thing grabs Windows by the head and starts chewing his head and has him upside down and shaking him around like a rag doll.

Was a really under rated movie when it came out and still is. CG's over use has ruined special effects.

Yes yes YES!

"I'm hearing things. Strange things.", "Watch Clark.... and watch him close."

fun fact: tony told me that they used a guy with no arms to film that scene, so when the mouth clamps down on his arms he pulled away on the prosthetics in order to create the effect

I like when the legs grow out of that guys head and it takes off. I dislike the horrendous excuse of a video game they made for this.

toggletoggle post by Randy_Marsh at Apr 27,2010 1:47am
excellent flick.

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Apr 27,2010 6:57am
I like the score in the movie as well. Perfect.

classic, total classic. Rob Bottin needs to be frozen in carbonite for the future for the brilliance in the effects.

Spider head under the desk was funny and creepy the way it breathed.

my dad showed me this movie when i was like 7. ...Nightmares for a week. The blood sample/tied to chairs scene in particular. ...i think the monster effects still hold up today. 'The Thing' is def in my top 10 horror films.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 27,2010 10:30am
no matter how many times i've seen it, that blood sample scene still tenses me up. does anyone have the action figures from the Movie Maniacs series? they are awesome, the detail is perfect.

The only aspect of this movie I didn't like was related to the story itself.

When the thing was stealing parts to build a spaceship to escape in...really? I don't think he would have had all the parts/time required for that one.

"Yeah well FUCK YOU TOO!!!"

toggletoggle post by BlackoutRick at Apr 27,2010 9:36pm
I like the Wilford Brimley shit that is being posted. And that is the way he says diabetes on that commercial. The Thing is in my all time top 5 horror movies.

toggletoggle post by BlackoutRick at Apr 27,2010 9:37pm
Best scene is the defib part when the head starts walking away and the stoner dude sees it first. "You gotta be fucking kidding me!"
