Will rose funeral actually show up? |
what a really horrible line up. |
Should I feel bad that I haven't even heard of most of these bands? |
Amon Amarth I'd love to see again actually, but I'll wait until they do their own tour! |
Surprised to see Tyrant playing massachusetts... |
Saw Municipal Waste two days ago in Brooklyn. They were tight as hell but their stage show has been seriously toned down... no more trampolines. |
Nemhf 2010 day 2
Across the sun (up) metalcore, but mixed with more heavy/progressive metal keys and vocals. Interesting.
Acacro (down) probably one of the smartest moves scott lee makes since these guys bring people and bring them early. Good to get shots of zudo since he's usually on the opposite side of the stage from me.
Swashbuckle (up) another one of the smart ideas cause people REALLY came out for them. The place was packed. Some of the people in the audience needed to have a "too big to sail" warning on them selves. The way this place is filler out really bodes well for the upstairs. |
LECHEROUS NOCTURNE (down) I know that they had a new drummer, but new singer? Or did he just cut his hair. These guys are a deathmetal band so their fans are probably older and more hungover than kids who would come out at noon. They also had some technical difficulties.
ROSE FUNERAL (up) same packed room, same awesome reaction from the crowd. Probably even more packed then when swashbuckle went on. |
MALEFICE (down) they had some vocals that I don't remember from the CD at all. I don't really know how to describe them. Still they sounded great on that stage. It is really weird how good the main stage sounds this year.
ARSONISTS GET ALL THE GIRLS (up) of course yung kids going crazy. Im pretty sure the theme of their set was hugging your gf in the front row. |
PERIPHERY (down) I was really looking forward to seeing these guys after all the hype from last year when they didn't show. these guys are the band equivilent to poison the well. (poison the well being an effect and not a band) If they came up on my ipod, I would say "wow, what is the awesome gem of a recording. I love those harsh vocals". Skip in time a few bars of music and wammo... The bad vocals kick in and "oh, it's poison the well. nevermind"
2 p.m. XTYRANTX (up) so.. The crowd was totally lame for them this year. They played like 2-3 years ago. The only thing is that when they last played was on a hardcore day where the crowd was much much older. These kids don't even know. If I had a band, I would get a guy with face tattoos and if anyone didn't pay us, I would have that dude kill them. |
2:30 p.m. GAZA (up) best set of the night or bestest set of the night? The guitars in the 3 song would make the virgin marry weap. The singer also had the funniest line. The crowd was reacting very favorably towards them and he said "im sorry you are mistaken. We are not Chelsea grin. They are playing downstairs"
2:45 p.m. ABACABB (down) the singer fell down on a monitor and I got a shot of the guitarist laughing at hime. |
3 p.m. TONY DANZA (up) they took a wicked long time to sound check... But they finally played a "quick" set.
3:15 p.m. TTEOTD (down) I think their pit suffered from the fact that there was TDTE going on up stairs. Still when I looked back at the audience, it was pretty packed. They also sounded really good. That little guy-from-the-red-chord dude they have makes some funny faces. |
3:30 p.m. MOTHER MERSY (up) cool hardcore band. Took the place of alpha and omega.
3:45 p.m. HOLY GRAIL (down) retro-heavy metal.
4 p.m. SOUL CONTROL (up) a lot of people weren't there for them. That sucks. The room was full, but the floor was.. |
4:15 p.m. CATTLE DECAPITATION (down) a new new bassist. Sounded sick as always on that stage.
4:30 p.m. REIGN SUPREME (up) they ruled and were such nice guys on stage.
4:45 p.m. IMPENDING DOOM (down) sounded good on the stage.. Praise jesus.
5 p.m. CRUEL HAND (up) so good. Though they didn't play any of my favorites while I was in the room. Oh well.
5:25 p.m. SKELETONWITCH (down) sounded look, looked good.
5 p.m. DISEMBODIED (up) when I got in the room, they sounded horrible. I couldn't hear any individual insturaments. I know that their "thing" is to sound like a mess but the sound gu over did it. 2 songs in and forget it. They sounded so good. Damn. Mix on the fly I guess. There should have been so many more people there. |
Ugh. Horrid decision making in my part coming here.

6:10 p.m. THE RED CHORD (down) for the first time that the red chord played at metalfest, I didn't stay for their whole set. Weird. GOod addition to the show regardless. Sick beards too.
6:15 p.m. MUNICIPAL WASTE (up) fun set. Thank you to todd pollock for the batteries. I got to the other side of the stage and realized I had only a set of dead ones in my flash.
7 p.m. ELUVEITIE (down) these guys (and girls) are sooo much better downstairs. They brought out the herdygirdy and bagpipes. |
7:50 p.m. WHITE CHAPEL (down) "EeEEEEEERRRR RA RA RA RARARARA eEEEeERRR FUCK YOUR FUCKING FACE" |
I was sent a promo of White Chapel to review for Stonerrock.com
I had no idea who they were prior.
I actually wrote a review and turned it in to my editor at the time, but he didn't publish it.
I formatted it properly and everything, with the band's website and contact at the bottom, the release date, label, everything kosher, but the only text I sent him for the review was "Son, I am disappoint."
Impending doom are the worst band in existence. |
8:40 p.m. JOB FOR A COWBOY (down) the people have spoken and you know what they want. I don't know why you won't give it to them. The people want MORE GLASSMAN. |
finally home and working on pictures while I burp/puke water and tomatos. |
This picture seems to describe most of everyone's opinion on this year's NEMHF line-up.
