Not sure how many of you know this band or care.. but this band is definitely underrated. They've been around for a while; Very atmospheric band, with each album sounding different. They recently put the project on hold in 2007 after their latest album Andacht.. here's a song from it:
PS: if you haven't heard the split with paysage d'hiver, hear it. I don't care for the paysage d'hiver on it (prefer darkspace), but the lunar aurora song is pure atmospheric bliss.
extremely underated band. Gluck is second to none, entire discography is great

I've been hoping for many years now that menhir comes and plays here in the US. doubt it. same thing with lunar aurora. I think there was a German show a few years ago that had lunar aurora, darkspace, and sear bliss. I mean what the fuck man.

Yep, I remember seeing the flyer on one of their sites for that show and getting pissed that I wouldn't be there.
It's kind of like how you will never get the chance to see Windir or Dissection live.

wish i saw dissection when they came here the 1st time :(
one of the reasons i want a time machine is to go back to see the American and European Dissection tour for Storm of the Light's Bane.
in Europe the support was Satyricon and Gorgoroth, in America it was At The Gates and someone else, Morbid Angel maybe? either way it would have been amazing.

Lunar Aurora is not underrated. is it a joke I do not understand to say a band is underrated?
all of their releases have garnered high praise from all over
anyway more good german bm
under appreciated is more appropriate. They aren't well known here in the states.
Popularity in the US is not a very good indicator for how appreciated a black metal artist is. High appreciation of a dedicated few. This is really the best an artist of their nature can hope for, and what LA have attained
Dear friends,
it has always been clear that also LUNAR AURORA will end some day. And this autumn we felt that it is time to lay the band to rest. We came to that decision for various reasons, the two following may be the most significant. On one hand our imaginations of future musical projects are difficult to reconcile with LUNAR AURORA, on the other hand we feel that LUNAR AURORA is out of tune with these times. We have never been people that speechify, so we won't make a big deal out of that, either.
It have been 18 great years and for that we want to say a big "THANK YOU!" to the people who have been with us during those years. Especially the fans as well as the bands we played with or did projects with. Not to forget the magazines, distributors, concert promoters, without whom publicity would not have been possible. Our label partners Frank Stöver, Andreas Lacher and Tom Wahl we owe deep thankfulness for their energy and trust.
With deep gratefulness we think of our bandmates Sindar, Nathaniel, Profanatitas, Biil, Skoarth and Bernhard Klepper for all they did for LUNAR AURORA with great dedication.
Although there won't be a new LUNAR AURORA album anymore, we will make sure that the long out of stock albums "... of stargates...", "Elixir of Sorrow" and "A haudiga Fluag" will be available through COLD DIMENSIONS within the next 1-2 years.
Until we meet again...
Finally giving Hoagascht a solid listen. Really digging it. At least their exiting on a high note. Not like they put out a string of shitty albums and decided to call it quits. They definitely had a lot of fun with the synths on this album.
