New site? Maybe some day.

holy shit, I never expected to see a board game apreesh thread on here.
I dig this game but know people who refuse to be in the same room as it. |
|
I played it for like 3 hours last night. I thought it would suck but it's the best. |
|
My folks actually like this game - they're cutthroat motherfuckers when the family plays. Plus my mom thinks it's hilarious to ask my dad if he's got wood.
I got them the Knights & Cities expansion, which I recommend - adds knights (duh), city defense, and a recurring barbarian invasion every few turns. Good times.
German-style board games are awesome in general. A few more to check out
Carcassonne
Thurn und Taxis
Ticket to Ride |
|
all 3 of those games are owned by my girlfriend's roommate.
Carcassonne is the next thing they're going to get me to play. |
|
It's a fucking blast - easy as shit to learn, too. Basically you're laying out a medieval walled city tile-by-tile, and every turn you can either lay a tile or claim a field with your little d00dz. Awesomely frustrating. LOL |

Played again a few hours ago. I won this time. BOOYAH |
|
I prefer Risk, but not any risk, ancient mythology risk, the map is europem, north africa, near asia, and atlantis (which you can randomly draw a card and it sinks for the game killing your armies)
you can play as celts, norse, greeks, egyptian, babylonians
there's also god pieces which add certain elements to whatever battle they fight in. |
|
I love Settlers of Catan, I play with a few of my friends as often as we can.
For those of you that like this game I HIGHLY recommend getting the Seafarer's Expansion Pack, it adds more tiles and allows for islands and shipping routes as well as more players. Shit is sick. |
