I saw this today when I got up and it caught me by total surprise! I have mixed feeling about this - I always thought Lackey was so-so and than heard his numbers were pretty terrible at Fenway but we'll see. Where he doesn't have to be the "ace" in town or whatever this may just work out well as a third starter or whatever. This off-season has been strange for the Sox - seeing a lot of things I didn't expect!

You did the right thing. I actually know a dude that hated baseball before 2004 but when the sox won he started following it. Now he thinks he's an expert. When I asked who was better, mickey mantle or David ortiz, he chose the latter. Sad.

The Phillies are in agreement on a three-team trade with the Mariners and Blue Jays to acquire star pitcher Roy Halladay while shipping Cliff Lee to Seattle, SI.com has learned.
Sources say Halladay is expected to agree to a contract extension to complete the deal in the next couple days. It is thought to be a formality, though terms are not yet clear. Halladay wanted to be in Philadelphia, as the Phillies train in Clearwater, Fla., not far from his offseason home.

I like the Lackey move but really where is the run support going to come from? Last year Lowell had some pretty good offensive efforts and is now gone (yeah you can argue age, defense, and injury), Ortiz is coming off his worst season as a member of the team, Bay isn't coming back (who obviously replaced Manny as a huge part of our offense) etc.

Don't get me wrong we still have some great bats here but I think they're gonna need at least one or two more reliable hitters to truly contend.
