I flipped my shit last night when I found out that the Pats cut Tully Banta Cain. Once I calmed down from my WoW remote up the ass style freakout I realized that it's probably a roster move to make way for a trade or some sort of free agent pickup.

TBC says he thinks he'll be back with the Patriots and that there's "some stuff going on in terms of the roster." I've also heard rumblings that Brandon Tate is finally eligible to be activated and may be added to the roster which would be sweet because I think Sam Aiken is a shitty receiver but a great special teams player.

The trade deadline is about 6 hours away. So you've all got about 6 hours to propose the most ridiculous trade scenarios you can without consequence. Let the rampant speculation begin!

It's not a repost. It's a trade watch thread. Totally different.

I don't think the patriots will do much. As I said earlier, I hope Thomas stays here.

What's wrong with Gostkowski this year?

The patriots trade everyone except brady to the raiders and in return receive the entire raiders team. The new Patriots then go on to stomp everyone and win 4 superbowls in a row proving that both Brady and Belichick are gods.

I'd like that trade if the Patriots traded for the Raiders that were in Tecmo Superbowl for NES.

Patriots trade 3 first round picks for Marcus Allen who renegotiates his contract to make $50,000 a year for the next 6 years thus creating the ultimate veteran value player.

Allen goes on to vaporize both his ACLs on a 3 yard gain that falls 2 yards short of a first down.

Seconded. There isn't much they CAN do really, in my opinion. I hope the Adelius Thomas nonsense doesn't blow up in our faces...whatever the hell it is...

They best dump J. Galloway. He smells like pickles.

ATTN Aril.

Look whose thread is catching on. REPOAZT!

Double rumor:

1. Galloway may be on his way to the Ravens.
2. Galloway has already been cut.
3. Galloway is old and couldn't catch swine flu if he licked a handrail on the MBTA.

Only #3 is confirmed.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Oct 20,2009 10:30am
i had such high hopes for Galloway this season. wtf.

toggletoggle post by timma at Oct 20,2009 10:30am
lolz.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Oct 20,2009 10:32am
Galloway cut confirmed. Goto hell you old bastard.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 20,2009 10:37am
I'm done watching or caring about the patriots anymore. Galloway is gone? WTF? Back to worshipping the Oilers.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Oct 20,2009 10:38am
Cutting Old Man Gall still doesn't explain why they cut TBC. I still think a trade is coming.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 20,2009 10:42am
You know, you're right. TBC was doing decent this year - i'm a little confused on that.
Plus, we need linebackers. I'm starting to think they've got a trick up their sleeve. Get rid of some damaged goods (Taylor?) or Morris? Is that even probable?

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Oct 20,2009 10:45am
Brady to the Rams for 8 1st rounders. And the Pats pick up Jeff George.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Oct 20,2009 10:49am
Galloway cut might be to make room for Tate coming off the PUP list

toggletoggle post by mattkings at Oct 20,2009 10:50am
Steven Jackson, Shawn Merriman or Dwayne Bowe anyone?? Peppers?? Deion Branch hahaha

toggletoggle post by ariI at Oct 20,2009 11:10am
Branch is a good idea.

Tampa Bay already picked up Galloway

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Oct 20,2009 11:26am
Tampa Bay just went from a bad team to an even worse team.
Awkward flight to London

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Oct 20,2009 11:53am
Sportingnews is saying that Alexander may be re-signed pretty quickly. I hope so. He's the best coverage LB we have.

Something big is in the works.

haha! I hope they line Brady up against him at cornerback for one play so he can throw an elbow at Galloway's chin.

The release of Tully Banta-Cain, Joey Galloway, Eric Alexander, and Michael Matthews opens up $2.87 million in nonprorated 2009 salary cap space, which in theory allows the Patriots to absorb a player with a full-season base salary of $2.87 million. (Because all players were signed through 2009 only, there's no cap acceleration arising from cutting them.)

WEEI is tossing Steven Jackson's name around as a possible trade.

if Jackson were traded to the Pats, my balls would completely empty

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Oct 20,2009 12:22pm
I heard last week though that the Jackson trade would never happen because the Rams don't have the cap space to absorb the salary cap acceleration that would happen from trading away Jackson.

I not 100% sure what I just said, but that's what I heard.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Oct 20,2009 12:23pm

Rumor has it that TO could be going to the Ravens.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Oct 20,2009 12:45pm
Won't happen. I think the Bills are still under the misguided notion that they can salvage their season.

So Mike Reiss's theory is that the Pats wanted to extend TBC's contract but couldn't do it otherwise until the end of the league year. Makes sense in theory but it certainly doesn't explain why TBC didn't even know about it when he was told about the situation during a radio interview.

oh, and Brandon Tate is ready to play. FUCK YES.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Oct 20,2009 1:45pm
Galloway is on his way to Kansas City to "work out" for the Chiefs. Which I'm assuming means cone drills in a motorized wheelchair.

I'm wondering how long it's going to take for people to give up the notion that he had trouble adapting to the New England offense. He was getting open. He was running the routes. But there's a large separation between a guy who's going to risk taking a hit, or putting his body on the line to make a play and... and Joey Galloway. Dude didn't care.

Steve Smith to the Dolphins? Possibly.

Less than an hour to the trade deadline. SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE A BATSHIT CRAZY TRADE!!!

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Oct 20,2009 4:50pm
other than the Eagles getting Will Witherspoon from the Rams for WR Brandon Gibson and a 2010 fifth-round draft pick, I haven't seen a trade today

the Redskins signed Levi Jones too btw
