I have a backup in place, but they just played very recently... like, within a few weeks ago. So if no one else steps in and confirms soon I'll announce them as the replacement tomorrow.

Trust me, I know, but I try hard to maintain a Metal Thursday history that doesn't have bands making repeat appearances too close together. Perhaps a bit too obsessively in some cases.

Backed. Repeat appearances are lame, bands need time to evolve and tighten up between local shows.

In this particular case it's looking unavoidable.

I don't think you're too obsessive about having bands not play twice within short periods of time. That totally makes sense, although I don't totally agree with having nights be made up of all of the same kind of metal. I know that when i go to a death or black metal show not only do i not mind when a different style of metal plays, but i really enjoy it. That's not to say that i would put a "tough guy" hardcore band on with a black metal band.. those ARE too far apart, but i think some black metal during your death metal shows would be great. Variety rules.

Nocturnum is filling the open slot, so this death metal show is getting an injection of some symphonic black metal after all. Huge thanks to them for helping out. Jim thanks for the kind words, and there are some 'mixed bag' MT lineups coming in the near future.

I second Jim on some mixed shows! Love it when a lineup is random and all over the place. Last week's Harmonix show was a great example of this.

i prefer mixed shows but i understand the need for genre-specific shows. there are some people out there who only listen to specific genres and would be turned off by a mixed bill, plus a lot of the people who like the mixed bills like the bands on the genre-specific bills enough to go to the show anyway.
