now that 8 year old girl is going to hate christmas for the rest of her life. Just put yourself in her shoes. Everytime christmas rolls around, she can't turn on the television or radio, or surf the internet, or even leave the house, without seeing advertisements. What do those ads say? Well, the words they speak are "our worthless crap makes the perfect christmas gift! Buy it for your family who you treat like shit the rest of the year!"

Well, that's my paraphrasing of advertising, but every single christmas, for the rest of her life, that little girl won't be able to turn on the television without hearing "Hey, remember how your family was gunned down in cold blood? You should buy this worthless crap!" She won't be able to listen to the radio without hearing "Hey, remember how your family was gunned down in cold blood? You should buy this worthless crap!" She won't be able to participate in society without hearing advertisements that say "Hey, remember how your family was gunned down in cold blood? You should buy this worthless crap!" every fucking day every 5 minutes for the rest of her life. Christianity and the American way of life are going to team up to emotionally torture that girl every December.

I don't HAVE to blame retailers and big business for torturing the shit out of some little girl after her family was gunned down, but then again, they don't HAVE to convince people that material possesions make any difference in their lives.
