Last time I had cavities drilled, it numbed my tongue completely so I sounded like the greased-up naked deaf guy from Family Guy. Not cool.

Once when they did the back-of-the-jaw needle, they hit the nerve directly, and my tongue was numb for about three weeks. It freaked me the hell out and their assurances of "it gets better in 90% of the cases" didn't help.
It got better, yay!
