fav folk metal band: Primordial |

folk is such a broad term now.
there's so many folk metal bands now. most of the new ones incorporate folk instruments with the metal. if someone was to ask me my favorite folk band, I'd have to say Menhir, even though they don't incorporate
many folk instruments in their music (buchonia EP they do, though).
someone enlighten me on when primordial was a folk metal band? I don't get that feel at all - if anything it's heathen metal / doom at times. fuck labeling them, it's useless... but folk? |
|
DOOM = Burning Witch
folk....eh, i don't listen to it |
|
Primordial's rhythms are kinda folkish and while they never use any folk instruments outside of a folky acoustic guitar, i think their Irish folk influences really shine through sometimes and i know i'm not the only one. I think their singer has a lot of similarities to the trad.doom style too and their songs are long and have a mostly doomy structure. Folk metal in terms of Skyclad, well no. But Amon Amarth folk metal? nahhh. whatever. all excellent metal bands. |
|
ok, I can see what you mean. yea, sometimes their melodies do reflect traditional irish music, you're right.
I don't know, i love the band, but I never really thoguht of them as folk. I guess you could say they do it their own way. |
