That wicked sucks. My great aunt Carol was the president of his fan club before she died. We have a little shoebox of letters from his fans sent to Carol asking for "color photographs" of him. My Nana and he were friendly, she used to play his records for me.

I emailed him about it a month or so ago and he wrote back within a few days:

August 29, I go back into the hospital at cedar's in LA to get re-
hooked up inside.

after a 6 hour operation with 3 surgeons, and after 6 weeks monday
thru friday of radiation and chemo..... I am now on the mend....

But... i am still looking down at the grass and not looking up at it
from the dirt..ha

When i die, it wont be in a rockin chair, it will be in one big
explosion on stage in body parts....ha
