I'm thinking of buying a telecaster and I was wondering if anyone else here is a tele fan?

What would you suggest for someone who is looking for a mid to somewhat high end tele that produces bright tones and has stock single coil pickups that wont hum/hiss?

*Not looking to use it as a metal guitar; more for clean twang and maybe add a small amount of fuzz effect when needed.

get p90s in it. You might want to check http://www.rondomusic.com . I don't think it's exactly what you're looking for but there are awesome guitars there for the price. Just be sure to look all the way through page 10. I myself am looking for a strat-type.

Teles are my favorite. I got a couple, but I've been playing the 72' deluxe lots.

Yo if you have a strat, give it to me.

they have a very "twang" sound to them. you can hear ever note perfectly. i don't think i could get used to playing metal with one though because i suck.

i thought Fender came out with a "metal" strat of some kind. i may be mistaken

toggletoggle post by tylor at Sep 2,2008 1:12pm
yeah im pretty sure they did like 4-5 years ago. but ive kinda wanted to start from scratch with a HSS or HH strat.

if you search "metal telecaster" in google images, there are a few decent pics on the first page.

i was thinkin of either buying a kit to assemble at home or just build my own Warmoth creation.....but $ and time kick me in the anus

hey Martins!

i saw a decent looking tele on that Rondo page, but with that cheap of a price, what am i really buying, ya know?

toggletoggle post by Pure Grain at Sep 6,2008 11:22am
up

You'll get a well built guitar that may take a little work to be perfect. What you're buying is basically a nice piece of wood with shit hardware and a decent fret job. On some guitars you might get it perfect right out of box. Others may take some work. Either way, mess around with it a little and you'll have a guitar you'll love.

Ive seen some Jay Turser models that look tempting:

anyone ever play a Jay Turser guitar?

toggletoggle post by Pure Grain at Sep 8,2008 10:26am
guess I'm headed to Boston Guitar Works today. Hope they have at least a couple decent tele's to try out...

I have a Korean made tele. I dig it. I ended up having to throw on some Sperzel locking tuners and added a Seymore Duncan Custom in the bridge pick up to getting a hotter output, more gain, and some boosted low end. Sounds pretty fuckin' killer for what I'm using it for.

I honestly like Jay Turser Gibson copies better than the guitars they're copying, at least from what I've played. They're worth what you pay for them.
