New site? Maybe some day.
Just curious, how many here are fans of the original Shining Force series for Sega Genesis (SF I & II)? Not many people talk about those games, but they're awesome! Definitely one of my favs from the early 90s.. especially the first one.
Also - Tactics Ogre for snes? |
snes? you are aware that tactics ogre for SNES was japan only. tactics ogre came out for the playstation in america and it one of the my fondest memories of the playstation next to MGS, castlevania symphony of the night, intelligent qube, ff7, gran turismo 2, resident evil 2, silent hill, and destruction derby 1 and 2. |

Actually,it did come out for snes, but the called it Ogre Battle.
Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle are different games
Ogre Battle snes
Tactics Ogre snes
tactics ogre in english got released here on playstation... ogre battle got released here on snes. do your research next time. |
Wasn't there also a PS re-release of Ogre Battle? I know there was also Ogre Battle 64 (New game or update of the SNES one?) |
there was a re-release on psx. |
Blah, I meant Ogre Battle!
I've played both... Tactics Ogre is very similar to FFT |
you mean FFT is very similar to Tactics Ogre ;) |
Anyway, if no one has played the SF series, you're missing out. Gort is the best character of all time. |

Love the two genesis SF games. Me and my cousin played them straight for an entire weekend and beat them both back in the day. |
In SF I, it's interesting if you take all the "bad" characters and work with them. Like, for example, Arthur starts out weak, but if you use him and build him up, he eventually learns magic and his defense gets way up there. |
are they easy to find? i have a Genesis, i'd like to try them out. |
i'm sure you won't have trouble finding them. Actually, I can't remember but I believe SF I is harder to find these days.
If you can't find the actual game, try the Rom out. They're addictive as hell, and have an awesome story. The enemy's name is "Runefaust." Doesn't get much better than that. |
just started my yearly playing of Shining Force. Game is such a fucking classic. |
amazing games... too bad part 2 and 3 of the saturn ones never got translated |
<3 |
Also, always used to think Pelle looked like a young Jay Leno. It's the fucking chin. Too bad he sucks balls. Most of the knights suck. Ken isn't bad.. has a lot of HP but no defense. Ernest is okay. Mae gets shitty. |
ATTN: Shining Force 3 Parts 2 and 3 HAVE Been Translated!! It is possible(With some effort) To Find AND play A fully Fan Translated Version of SF3:2/3. It may take some time to Find it, but I'm sure it' still around. |
SF 1 and 2 and the prequel Shining In The Darkness are all on the Sonic collection for PS3 and Xbox360... I played all 3 about a year or so ago, not really big into RPGs, but they were fun... SF 1 & 2 more so than SitD, which was a labyrinth adventure rather than the large-party battle style of the SFs. |

Awesome news, anonymous. You will remove your helmet , and tell me your name |

Unfortunately, I was searching for something else, and Don't think I would be using this site ever again. Keeping in touch is easy tho: Mymester@gmail.com |

WRONG |
wrong indeed. Shining in the Darkness was meh, but the rest of the series was pretty excellent. As far as rpg on the genesis, however, I think the Phantasy Star series is by far the best. |
I think Shining Force 1 > any Phantasy Star game and I love Phantasy Star. |
The first game in the series was Shining in the Darkness, so do you mean that, or the sequel, Shining Force? |
Wasn't there also a PS re-release of Ogre Battle? |
I know for a fact there was, because it's apparently worth a fair amount of money (store in Salem has it for something like 75 bucks.) I never actually played it because I never had a playstation though. |

Yes, it ruled. You could be the class Exorcist...or was that Vandal Hearts? I'm pretty sure it was Orge Battle though. |
shining force is BY FAR the best in the series. Shining in the Darkness was pretty weak. But then again it's been a long time since I played it. |

Ditto, I want to play it again. |
Shining force II was one of the BEST story-driven turn-based strategy games ever made. |
I've actually never played Shining Force...It's for genesis? How do they let you save or do you use passwords? |

You love "turn-based" and JPRGs and haven't played the best 16bit one of all time?
YOOTB. |
I only owned a Genesis for like 3 months when i was a kid |
All I had was vectorman and sonic |
Youve had 20 years to play the best games of the greatest 16bit console ever made.
YOOTB. |
I miss my physical copy of Shining Force II. |
In all seriousness, play it. I got an emulator on my phone and just beat them. good commuter rail game. |
Ps1 will always be my fav for a gaming console as well as for motherfucking turn based..
Xenogears
FF7,8
Legend of Legaia
Legend of Dragoon
SaGa Frontier
Parasite Eve 1,2
Breath of Fire 3
Suikoden 1,2
Vandal Hearts 1,2
FF tactics
+ more |
Playing through Shining Force now. Liking it so far, my only complaint is how random the turns are. I understand that agility has something to do with it but I still cant seem to figure it out 100 percent. Combat is fun though, pretty simple and straight forward other than the aforementioned turn confusion. |
