This past week Hold True Recordings delivered an estimated 100lbs of non-perishable food that had been collected at Metal and Hardcore shows by the label for the Quinsigamond Village Community Center in Worcester, Ma. The "QVCC" is a multi-use facility that hosts an on-demand food bank for the Operation: Military Kids Emergency Food Program. The food collected by Hold True will be placed directly into the hands of local military families who cannot afford food due to having family members deployed, and having an interruption to their regular household incomes.
And we discovered that the food couldn't have come at a better time. According to QVCC director David Johnson, allot of the local stores and grocery chains that had regularly donated to the food bank have stopped. They apparently have now opted to sell the cans they would regularly donate (the dinged and dented ones) to Ocean State Job Lot, and turn a small profit rather than donate the food to needy families. This revelation has only strengthened Hold True's resolve to continue its effort to help our military families that are in need.
Thanks man, we will. We are starting to hammer out a plan with WUML in Lowell, MA for a big food drive. WUNH is welcome to get in on it too!! We will have more info on it in a bit...
