New site? Maybe some day.

anyone ever use a floyd locking nut neck with a hardtail/blocked bridge? im gonna buy a hardtail jackson body and most of the necks im looking at are locking nut floyd style. the locking nuts seem like they have plenty of depth for the string without the top lock piece. i dont know if they make a non locking nut to fit over the locking nut routing space (it would look ugly with a small regular nut in a floyd locking nut space)
anyone ever have/played with this scenario, know about other solutions? |

If it's a hardtail, you wouldn't even need the locking nut. The strings won't slip out or anything, IIRC. |
|
I dont think it would hurt anything if you did it that way, my charvel has one of those tremlo-nos in it making the floyd act like a hardtail and it works great |

Floyded necks are built with no pocket angle and hardtail bodies have pocket angle, so there may bo some issue there.
The lockinmg nut will work fine with a hairdtail, just don't tighten the blocks.
the only other thing that might be a problem is string height, but a small shim under the locking nut will fix that. |

Forgot about the angle bit. Yeah. |

the setup is going to be pretty close to this....

Go jackson. |

DK2, DK2M, and DK2T (t is the hardtail version) all swap necks back and forth. Pocket angle could very well bite you in the ass. Check out the warmoth forums. You should get some good info there. |
