ok so i'm researching this...

i do not have all the symptoms...all i have is pain

i think i MIGHT have it because when i tried chewing on something...food got into tho back of my mouth..and i went to grab it (rice) and wound up pulling out a piece of skin...it looked like a red gummy bear...i figured if it was loose, then it should come out...did the same thing on the other side...

"Dry socket (alveolar osteitis) is a dental condition that occurs when the blood clot at the site of a tooth extraction is dislodged, exposing underlying bone and nerves and causing increasing pain."

symptoms:
* Partial or total loss of the blood clot at the extraction site, which you may notice as an empty-looking (dry) socket
~is that what i removed out of my mouth?

* Visible bone in the socket
~think i can feel it with my tongue
* Pain that increases between one and three days after tooth extraction and that typically becomes severe and unrelenting
~i take advil, that helps
* Pain that radiates from the socket to your ear or eye on the same side of your face
~no
* Bad breath or a foul odor coming from your mouth
~no
* Unpleasant taste in your mouth
~no
* Swollen lymph nodes around your jaw or neck
~dunno

anyone have this...?

My wife's sister had it...no big deal. They plant you on more anti-biotics (no fucking, you WILL get pregnant) and massive pain meds. It heals up like any other tooth extraction.

Believe me, I live in Maine. We're experts on tooth extraction.

yep, that's dry socket. sounds like you pulled the clot out. go back soon.

why does it seem like every week there is a thread about wisdom teeth and dry sockets?

I smoked and drank after mine were pulled and mine were fine. Not that I suggest it.

wait, antibiotics rui condoms? yeah, no fucking for me any how. I knew once carina said something, she would look on line at the symptoms and then have it.
she doesn't have it, but she won't take the viccodin for some reason.

I'm so sorry carina that you were right for the first time and you do have dry socket. I guess I will have to give you a Dry Socket medal.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Oct 17,2007 9:29am

When I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled I got dry socket in one of my wounds after about 2 weeks. They gave me this clove-gauze-type installation in the hole (which tasted shitty like a clove cigarette) and left it in there for 2 weeks or so. Aside from the fact that my pizza eating craving was pushed back a few weeks, shit was smooth sailing from there.

Wait a second, you are telling me there are dentists in Maine? I find this highly improbable.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 18,2007 11:27am
how do you think they keep their tooth?

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Oct 18,2007 12:17pm
i thought this was a vagina disease

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Oct 18,2007 12:39pm
