Austin is cool i give it an A. pretty open minded for texas id say.

I was just down in Austin week before last; it's a neat city, but too damn hot for my tastes. Sixth Street is the famous entertainment district, but I dunno what I did with my copy of the Chronicle (Austin Chronicle, ~= Village Voice), so I can't point out what bars/clubs/restaurants are interesting and which are just full of UT students looking to get wasted. If your hotel's south of the city, it's probably easy to stop in at the Whip In; it's on the service road on the side of I-35 south around like exit 230. It's got not only all the local free papers for finding out what's going on, but also lots of not-typical-Texas food and allegedly the best beer selection in Austin.

I was working all week, so I don't have much else; Poke-E-Joe's is good for carnivores, and there are a lot of good Vietnamese restaurants stuck in weird places. Have fun and definitely check out the bats if you can.

I'm staying in a great location actually..corner of 1st and barton springs...so everything is within walking distance!
Tomorrow i'll go walk around and explore...i had to run out today and grab some last minute things...any inexpensive clothing shops? when i look online i only see trendy little boutques and CVS..lol

the "Bat Bridge" is right behind "Emos" and yeah...the friggin thing is swarming with Bats...best to watch from a distance. Also..that
area around Emos has TONS of amazing restaraunts and bars/clubs...
and gets totally jamming during the weekends. One of my favorite stops
on tour...

austin is one of the cities i've wanted to visit most, especially for the bats. have fun.

Thanks. At dulles right now waiting to board my flight to austin. The pilot saw something and wanted a mechanic to look at it. So we are a lil delayed...we were supposed to be taking off now.

Ok so the woman at the gate is a hoot....she said the issue is even larger than what they thought..but don't leave or go into the bar..lol....anyhow....they changed the flight to an hour delay....and justnow we found out that the plane is in bad shape...need a new plane....we might have to reroute...argh

Ok..so....as I stood in line to get a different flight....there is a plane arriving for us....so now departure time is 11ish....sigh...

Hah..so the plane is on its way for us..and all of a sudden..they tell us to board our original plane....hmmm so serious issues with the plane and they want us to board...turns out it was a carpeting issue. On plane now waiting
