anyone else gotten this yet on myspace?? I just got it on both my personal page and the coffin birth page and its telling me i cant do anything on myspace till i change my passwords, but its not letting me do that either.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Jul 2,2007 10:28pm
I got it a few weeks back.

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jul 2,2007 10:29pm
yep
the image thing is broken right?
how long is your current password?
mine was 12 i guess you can't have one more than 10. so they want you to change it.

toggletoggle post by ZJD   at Jul 2,2007 10:31pm
I just did on my band's page and the image with the word i'm supposed to type is broken. No idea what to do.

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jul 2,2007 10:32pm
ok then how many other people are getting that message?
where that image is being held on the server must be overloaded.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jul 2,2007 10:32pm
yep same with me

toggletoggle post by the_network_booking   at Jul 2,2007 10:34pm

toggletoggle post by Keithnli at Jul 2,2007 10:41pm
mine works fine.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Jul 2,2007 10:42pm
Mine is fine too. It must only be happening to non-l33t d00dz.

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jul 2,2007 10:43pm
haha the email just sends you to the same page with the broken link.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Jul 2,2007 10:44pm
Tom is all LOL @ U. All of you.

check this out guys - these phishers are hosting a form that looks just like the "you must be signed in to do that!" page on myspace. they just record all the login data for later use. they get you to that page by making a myspace profile that looks like a legit profile, but is actually just a screenshot of a profile that is one big link that goes to their phishing page.

so this is very easy to combat - whenever you are asked for your name and password, just glance at the URL. if it is hosted on myspace, you are all set. if not, obv don't enter your information.

this is how i understand accounts are being phished, and aside from more sophisticated attacks like obfuscated javascript insertion there really is no way to get your details jacked if you take this simple precaution.

remember - tread carefully, the internet is a scary place in 2007!

Goddamnit, I can't just do the email thing because the account is not set up with my email and our bassist is in fucking Europe right now so I can't make him do this. MYSPACE IS RUINING MY LIFE ALL OVER AGAIN.

ok so how do we fix the problem

toggletoggle post by timjohn at Jul 2,2007 10:53pm
hmmm not really sure idk much about gayspace. right now is probably a bad time for this to happen, i would guess this is myspace's peak time and sometimes their shit takes forever to load certain pages.

what exactly is the error when you try and change your password?

No problem except the image with the security letters won't load.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jul 2,2007 10:59pm
Yep, I got the same bullshit tonight and I can't load up the fucking javascript image.
WAY TO GO, TOM!

I emailed myspace to report the error and find out what the hell to do. Hopefully, they are getting a lot of similar messages so they can fix the goddamn images.

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jul 2,2007 11:00pm
and we can't email Tom since we can't send messages to anyone.
so how does he know that his stupid servers can't put up an image.
they must be doing a massive upgrade.

toggletoggle post by timjohn at Jul 2,2007 11:02pm
lol looks like the new myspace CAPTCHA is working a little bit too good... no ideas other than to refresh the page after a few minutes. i was about to point you to some good CAPTCHA-cracking Optical Character Recognition sources, but then i realized they are of no value if you can't fucking see the image!

lol this is pretty ridiculous. i would be furious if this happened to me. just goes to show you how much of a horribly run, shit infested cesspool myspace is.

toggletoggle post by timjohn at Jul 2,2007 11:04pm
remember how shitty of a predicament this is so in the future you can take the precautions not to get your account info phished. fuck those stupid douchebags that phish anyway, it is extremely unethical IMO and i don't normally care too much about ethics when it comes to money and business.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jul 2,2007 11:04pm
YOU CAN STILL EMAIL CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Click contact myspace at the bottom of your main page and report this crap.

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at Jul 2,2007 11:07pm
very strange.

so it's happening on personal AND band pages, huh

mine's OK but then again I only have 60 friends on there

hmmm how long is everyones password this happened too?
cause i didn't get phished everytime i log into that stupid site i double check that i actually typed in myspace.com.

toggletoggle post by timjohn at Jul 2,2007 11:11pm
yeah that is a good point. you should be changing your passwords every so often to help prevent this.

another way you can get login details phished (to MUCH MUCH more sensitive places like banks / credit cards) is by accepting random stupid shit on AIM. i used to play a fair amount of online poker and account detail theft was rampant. there are a ton of simple keylogger scripts out there and plenty of douchebags who have no qualms about ripping people off.

beware

any luck anyone?

toggletoggle post by FleshFries at Jul 3,2007 12:34am
the problem is gone with me....just logged on and its just unblocked...must've been a myspace error

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jul 3,2007 4:28pm
Yeah, mine was fine this afternoon. Weird.

toggletoggle post by ZJD   at Jul 3,2007 4:29pm
The image showed up for me last night so I could unblock it.
