holy balls, fucking EMPEROR!! i've never been to a better show in my life. they were the most commanding band i've ever seen. the sound was fucking spectacular, all the songs were nailed on point. when they first kicked in to Into the Infinity of Thoughts, the sound was a little murky, but it was quickly corrected in like 10 seconds, and it was fine after that. when the set kicked in, the place exploded and everyone beat the shit out of each other. i cant believe how much they played off of In the Nightside Eclipse, thats the album i wanted to hear the most. Eyes of the Dead was ok, a little too "coreish" for this show, but then to everyones surprise Averse Sefira came on, who wasnt announced. the sound for them was mediocre, the drums were muddy, but the vocals and guitar were good. unfortunately no one really cared because EMPEROR was just scrolling through everyones minds. i heard a lot of people saying how much better this show was than last year due to Samoth being in attendance, and his guitar just beefed up Ihsahn's. man, after all these years they are still kings. fucking EMPEROR!!!

my brother got to go to this, he said there were major problems w/ the guitar sound (but he was right up front at the barrier, maybe that's why) but otherwise they were awesome. He also said something about this retarded band from Texas that were apparently incredibly awful and looked really stupid in corpsepaint...who was that?

averse safira is the only band who wears corpse paint allowed to live in texas.

This show was awesome...Simply awesome...

Emperor was amazing again. The mix could've been a little better, guitars were a hair low, vocals a bit overbearing, but overall another fucking incredible show. They more than made up for the lacking start of the night.

Both openers sucked. Really sucked. Averse Safira had a couple decent riffs but for the most part it was unintelligable, odd because it was still very simple musically. The other opener was absolute junk. Problematic sound, tired ideas, and they closed with Slayer's Raining Blood, why? Because that's what you do after a shitty set when you're desperate for a good pop from the crowd. And they got it, the cheapest way possible. Terrible.

Averse Sefira is actually good, they were just mixed terribly and a lot of what they were doing was lost. i saw them years ago at NEMF and they were great. yeah i forgot that Eyes of the Dead closed with a horrid version of Raining Blood, the guy forgot half the lyrics and where they come in. he was also doing this gay Marilyn Manson type thing on stage, definitely not a band to open for Emperor.

and we hit and killed a deer on the way home. my bro was driving and he reacted well, it only dented the car and knocked his headlight out of wack. i think it shit when we hit it though, there was brownish-greenish stuff on the side.
